Hi All-

He must have been a kinder and gentler hitman. At least he courteously advised the medical personnel to vacate the premises before finishing his business with his client. Good manners and etiquette never goes out of style.

Actually, this doesn't seem all that unusual to me. In most communities, most people don't mess with firemen or paramedics. I been in housing projects in very volitile situations and had hardcore gangbangers clear my way because of the way we treated their grandmother last week.
I had a cop tell me that what he hated was that when we drive by, everyone waves. When he drives by they just flip him the finger.
A little kindness and respect go a long way: no matter who you are.

"Police also recovered shell casings and three shells from a small handgun in a nearby driveway."

see now if this happened in California then the police would know whose cases those were cause we all know that he bought the ammo at Wal-Mart.

How generous of you. The criminals, illegals and mentally ill will be grateful
If he is a criminal, and that is a decision for a jury, not us, he should be in prison where there should be no firearms. Otherwise, he is an ordinary citizen who is entitled by virtue of being human to defend himself as he sees fit. The criminals, illegals, and mentally ill might just be grateful, but so will all the folks who can't buy 11-round magazines or anything painted black because the criminals *might* use one. Either extend the right to all enfranchised citizens unconditionally, or go join HCI. There is no middle ground in this fight.

Its probably a bad idea to arm ambulance people.

A good idea would be to get the friggin police there. Brilliance.

But, as usual, the story doesnt covere everything we need to know. Its a good idea to keep that in mind.

Someone just got gunned down, left for dead while the shooter went for a bigger gun, and then executed at close range with a shotgun.

Please try not to make jokes about it, tasteless or otherwise

This is sad, and like others, I'm curious as to why police weren't already on the scene to provide security. You'd think that was standard procedure for responses to shooting calls.

What gun laws would those be? Michigan is a shall-issue state.
Well, true, but MI requies that you either show a CCW when buying a pistol or have a permission slip from the PD (valid for 10 days) to buy one.

Further, no matter HOW you buy it you have to bring it back to the PD for the "safety inspection" where they basically make sure it has a serial number an record that into a database as well as make, model, and caliber.

So, either somebody slippped up and gave a CCW to a 17 year old (supposed to be 21) or a pistol purchase permit (supposed to be 18) to a 17 year old with a record.

Right?

The last time I came back from the PD ($10 lighter) to get my little permission slips I pondered calling up the local PD of any area where something like this happens and demand to know who issued that person their CCW or purchase permit.

Still, we have premption law, so Detroit's laws are no better or worse than any other town or city in the state.

Btw..the $10.00 is illegal now, I believe.

Let me guess..Kent County?

How do those relate to shall-issue CCW, Giga? I'm just failing to follow you. I think a 17 year old in possession of a handgun in any state is against the law.

My purchase permits were $5, FWIW.

Who says the American work ethic is gone. Here we have a professional worker going the extra mile to make sure the job was done right. Customer satisfaction is the name of the game. I guess he could have cleaned up after himself.

I say give Detroit back to the French. We have a saying in Michigan that our tax dollars that we send to Lansing don't stop till they get to Detroit. Our good Governor, Jenny In The Block, panders to Detroit and is beholden to all the corrupt money guys there.. Look at the dolt they have for a mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick. He's an empty headed party boy in a $3000.00 suit. (Thanks for my Detroit Visa Card, everybody.) :banghead:

Azrael?? Do you realize how much of a minority we are? Thank you for supporting my right to keep and bear arms without question. I support yours too :) ,,, As well as ALL of the other citizens of our wonderful country.

NO, my rights are not restricted, I am a good boy. BUT, I do not think there should be ANY restrictions on gun ownership, unless you are in prison, or legally detained in a mental institution.

Just read jefnvk's sig.
I grew up in Detroit.
Its a jem. A jewl. A diamond in the rough. A treasure!

Like pirates, we should bury it! :fire:

I'm with Azrael too, if you are not in jail then you should be able to exercise ALL rights.

As far as the medics being there without the police, what was it dispatched as? I have been on MANY calls that started as difficulty breathing or some such thing that turned out to actually be stabbings and once a shooting. Bad dispatchers can get you in trouble in a hurry( kind of like bad cops or bad anything else).

"I have been on MANY calls that started as difficulty breathing or some such thing that turned out to actually be stabbings and once a shooting."

I once went on a possible stroke and found two people shot 17 times between them (Both still very much alive). I have been on a number of calls where they didn't disclose what it was because they didn't want to put it out on the air. The most dramatic of which was an actual WMD call involving a real live pathogen: they didn't want word to get out/panic to spread/find out it was a false alarm...................... They wouldn't tell us what was going on until we threatened to leave. I have gone on calls where we were contacted by telephone as a raid was taking place so that there was no chance of a security breach. Bottom line: you don't really know what you are responding to. I would estimate that 75% of the information we get on dispatch is BS. I probably go on four calls a shift average of a reported man down. 90% of the time it is someone that is homeless and or passed out drunk: but it just as easily could be someone just shot and the person calling it in just sees someone lying on the sidewalk or parking lot.
Like EVERYTHING else, it is up to YOU to watch your own backside. Not dispatch, not the police. I don't work in Mayberry and those guys in Detroit don't either.

manhunt invoking murder instead of misdemeaner murder

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

This guy obviously chose to run with the big boys and found out the hard way how the game is played at that level

I am almost with Azrael256. I see no problem with denying ownership until all your time is served, including probation.

And recently been given the distinction of being the worst mayor in the United States. Well deserved. My congratulations.

Idea for a new movie: Escape from Detroit.
