Strictly hypothetical, but a buddy and I awlays have this "discussion"

You are limited to 6 guns.

They must be:
LONG GUNS
One centerfire rifle of any caliber.
One rimfire rifle.
One shotgun.
HAND GUNS
One centerfire Revolver
One centerfire Pistol
One rimfire pistol or revolver.

What's you're choices and why?

Mine are:
my 308 remington 700..."reach out and touch..."
my JC Higgins autoloader tube feed .22...Good for small game and 17 rounds
my Mossberg 590a1... what else...

my S&W 625 Mountain gun in .45colt...just points nice!
my Beretta 92...lots of 9mm out there!
and my Smith model 18 .22... at a 4" bbl, you could carry it anywhere.

Whaddya think, what are your choices....
:neener:

Rimfire pistol: Tec .22 to throw at the doofus who has my Taurus.
Centerfire revolver: Taurus Raging 30. To fight towards the Beretta.
Centerfire autoloader: Beretta 92FS. To fight towards the 10/ 22.

Rimfire rifle: A supressed 10/22. For use when the shottie runs empty.
Shotgun: Benelli M1. For use against when the AK runs empty.
Centerfire rifle: A full-auto AK. "When you absolutely, positively, have to kill every mother------ in the room who only let you have 6 guns to begin with."

:neener: Yourself. :p

Sure, I'll play ...

M1: can hit with it, and things go down. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Pre-'64 (or new CRF) Win 70 in .270, either.
870 12 ga. — what more is there to say?
Remington Model 33: accurate, good for teaching, and fun to shoot

Colt NRM 1911: Colt is back!
Dick Special: they work every time, forever
Colt Diamondback .22: see "Dick Special," above — for practice, for plinking, and for small game whenever I don't have the .22 rifle

Alrighty then,

1) Colt Government Model
2) Colt Officer's frame with Marvel .22 Conversion unit(how did that .45 slide and barrel get in there?)
3) S&W Jay frame .38 snubbie

4) Ruger 10/22
5) Remington 870 or Benelli or trade for a HK UMP .45-if possible.
6) Valmet M76 .308, first choice followed by other AK variant

there is mine!
Jercamp45

Mauser actioned 30.06 bolt gun
Anschutz 64 MP R .22lr
Any quality side x side in 12 guage

Colt Anaconda in .45 Colt
Delta Elite 10mm
High Standard Supermatic Citation .22lr

With reloading capabilites those can cover the bases for me.

Long guns:
M70 .243
FNC .223
SKS

LG Alternate choices:
M96 Swede
AK
Enfield

Handguns:
Ruger GP100
Ruger MkII Slabside
Kimber ProCarry

HG Alternate choices:
Kimber Ultra CDP
Taurus 605
SA 5" 1911

LONG GUNS
One centerfire rifle of any caliber... Swede 96
One rimfire rifle... Ruger 10/22
One shotgun... Browning Citori 20 ga.
HAND GUNS
One centerfire Revolver... S&W 29
One centerfire Pistol... Colt Commander
One rimfire pistol or revolver... Browning Buckmark

Why? Because I've got them, know them, shoot them all regularly, and typically can hit the targets on a regular basis with them.

Staying Within "Practical Limits" In Todays Society:

Long Guns:

Centerfire Rifle : Remington 700 BDL in 7m/m magnum

Rimfire Rifle: Remington Nylon 66 "Apache"

Shotgun: Remington 870 12 gague Marine Magnum

Handguns:

Centerfire Revolver: 5" barrel S&W 629-5 "Classic"

Centerfire Semi-Auto: SIG-Sauer 9m/m P228*

Rimfire Revolver/Auto: Smith & Wesson 4" barrel model 18

* Special Notation- the SIG-Sauer 9m/m P228
was chosen over the .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220;
mainly because of the world-wide availability of
9m/m ammunition.

Why? All are proven performers, with excellent track records! :uhoh: :D

HAND GUNS
One centerfire Revolver Ruger Gp100
One centerfire Pistol Sig 220ST
One rimfire pistol or revolver. Ruger Single Six or Ruger MkII

centerfire rifle: Probably my Winchester 94 in .45LC or my Win 94 in 30-30
possible alternate: my Bushmaster AR- the changable uppers adds versatility

rimfire rifle: Marlin model 60, no question- it was my first and still my favorite.
possible alternate: Once I get a CZ .22 rifle I may change my mind if it is anywhere near as nice as the CZ pistols

shotgun: probably a Remingon 870
alternate: a Mossberg 500 Persuader

centerfire revolver: No question, if I could have only one revolver it would be my S&W 65LS (heck, if I could have only one gun it would probably be that one)- very versatile platform (3" K-frame- carriable, comfortable at the range even with full magnums, decent sight radius, etc) and chambering (.357mag- can handle everything from light target .38spl wadcutters to the more powerful .357magnum loads).

centerfire pistol: A 1911 of some kind- I'd be happy with my Charles Daly (its been reliable), but I might go with a Kimber Custom, SA Loaded, or Kimber Pro Carry
alternate: My CZ 75B- on some days I'd actually pick it over a 1911.

rimfire handgun: Probably my Ruger MkII, but I love revolvers so once I get a rimfire revolver (probably a Taurus 94) it might beat out the Ruger.

These kinds of lists are sometimes interesting since they tell you people's priorities. However, with your subcatagories this really limits that and tells us more about your priorities (nothing wrong with that of course, and it does make us identify our preferences in each of those catagories instead of leaving one out). For instance, if the limit was only 6 guns, I probably would leave out the shotgun (I don't hunt and for home defense the pistol caliber lever rifle or a .223 rifle would work better in some ways and nearly as well in others). I'd also probably drop the rimfire guns- 9mm and .38spl is reasonably priced (especially if you reload) and with the CZ and 1911 handguns one could get a .22lr adapter kit, with an AR one could get a .22lr upper, etc and not have to get an extra rimfire gun. Also, I'd probably go with only one or two long guns allowing more handguns. Others would of course have other priorities and may make completely different adjustments.

ar 15 second choice SA 93 Ak
Mossberg 500
Ruger 10/22

WW 2 Ithaca 1911 because obsolete is not in its vocabulary
3" S&W model 36
High Standard Double 9 very accurate

Its really ironic for me to read this thread, as a Norwegian.

This is exactly what our politicians is trying to push through now.
Apparently, we have no need for more than 6 long-guns, and shouldnt be allowed more than 6 either. At least, not without documenting page in and page out what you need that seventh gun for.

Apparently, 7 guns makes you a lunatic.

Allright, rant over.

Wait, I still have some steam... :banghead: :cuss: :fire: :banghead: :cuss: :cuss:

Centerfire: M1A
Rimfire: CZ 452
Shotgun: Rem 870

Centerfire revolver: S&W 686 .357
Centerfire pistol: HK USP Tactical
Rimfire handgun: Ruger MkII

I only have two of them :(

centerfire rifle: Winchester M70 Featherweight in 6.5x55 - I just love this rifle. It's easy to shoot, accurate, fits my style of hunting well, etc. This is my "one rifle". I barely look at others now (I will gaze lovingly at a M-S Carbine in 6.5x54 though)

rimfire rifle: Ruger 10/22 - not the most accurate or dependable, but the most fun and fun to tinker with. Everyone has one or so it seems, so parts are common.

shotgun: Remington 870 Magnum 12g - Not my favorite shotgun, but if I could only have one, this would do everything I need a shotgun to do. It's a good "one shotgun". Small game, large game, shotgun games, home defense. It'll do it all. It's a contender for the "one long gun" class (but wouldn't life be boring!).

centerfire Revolver: Ruger GP100 4" 357mag - I have this one too. It's not perfect for all uses, but it's flexible enough to handle 90% of what I'd use a centerfire revolver for. From light 38s to heavy 357mags, it'll do the job. It's not too big to CCW, but big enough to shoot all day if you're at the range. It's strong enough for hot hunting loads. Heck, it's strong enough to practice daily with your hot hunting loads.

centerfire Pistol: Out of the small number of centerfire pistols I've shot, I'd have to pick the Browning Hi-Power for this slot (I prefer the Star BM, but lack of NIB models and parts keeps me from listing it).

rimfire pistol or revolver: I'd go with a S&W 17. With a rimfire revolver, you can shoot any 22 rimfire load you want (except for WMR). Lots of flexibility...

Chris

Here's what I'd keep:

LONG GUNS
Remington 700 VSSF in .308
Custom Ruger 10/22
Mossberg 500 Combo
- 28" vent rib barrel w/ four chokes
- 24" scoped rifled slug barrel
- 18.5" cylinder barrel with iron sights

HAND GUNS
Ruger KGP-100 in .357
Glock 23
Browning Buckmark Plus

Why? Because I've got them, know them, shoot them all regularly, and typically can hit the targets on a regular basis with them

Exactly why I made the choices I did.

Our thoughts, that is my buddy and I, were to cover all facets of the rimfire/centerfire and the rifle/handgun/shotgun combinations that we had in our collections.

I had thought of my m1a as my centerfire rifle choice, but instead, chose the simpler bolt only out of less maintenance/broken parts.

I thought it'd be good to see the combinations of toys listed.

I even thought to go the way of military/para-military firearms...ie the AR, the m1a,[or garand] the remington or Mossy shotgun, the 1911a1 or the beretta,Smith model 10 or Colt, leaving only the rimfire to "personal choice".

OR

Y'all could run this using Cowboy cartridges and levers, Side by sides and single action wheel guns.

The possibilities are numerous, but the original question was just in fun..

Sorry to hear that guy:uhoh:

What Legionaire said.

Long'uns

centefire- US .30 M1 (Winchester)
rimfire - Remington Targetmaster (singleshot turnbolt about as old as the Garand, with an eerily similar trigger)
shotty - Winchester 1300

Why some people think that unless it's a mossy 5xx or remmy 870 it's going to fall apart, I'll never understand...

Actually, I'd probably take the 10/22 for the rimfire, since I've got a couple decent 30-round mags for it, but the Targetmaster is a beast with .22 shorts. It doesn't *need* to be suppressed. Either one, I guess. Hate to leave the 10/22 behind since it's so newbie friendly. If you have to hand someone with rudimentary training a rifle to watch your back, may as well make it a reliable, low-recoil bullet hose. Still, the Targetmaster is soooo sweet. grr.

Short'uns

centerfire auto - Glock 26
centerfire revo- S&W L-frame of K-frame 4",
rimfire auto- Ruger 22/45 4" HBAR (I *hear* :D it takes improv go-shuhes disturbingly well, almost like it was designed for them...)

LONG GUNS
One centerfire rifle of any caliber: Accuracy International AW50
One rimfire rifle: Marlin 980S
One shotgun: Remington 870 12ga. Wingmaster 28"

HAND GUNS
One centerfire Revolver: S&W Model 29
One centerfire Pistol: Colt Special Combat Government
One rimfire pistol or revolver: Fully Functional (not a jammomatic in other words) Kimber .22 Rimfire.

LONG GUNS
One centerfire rifle of any caliber... SAR 1
One rimfire rifle... Ruger 10/22
One shotgun... Remington 870
HAND GUNS
One centerfire Revolver... Ruger GP100 .357 MAG
One centerfire Pistol... Springfield XD 40
One rimfire pistol or revolver... Ruger Mark II

My picks

Long guns: Bolt action Win Mod 70 30'06 (can also shoot .224 saboted boattails) for big game and varmints, Ruger 10/22 and new Ruger side x side 12 guage (I'm a bird hunter).........Handguns: Glock 30 for self defense, Ruger SuperRedhawk in .454 Casull/45 LC (I'm a handgun hunter) and Ruger 22 lr Gov't traget model (I like targets too).
