Ok....I after doing extensive research I have found that Buds Gun Shop is the best choice as far as getting the shotgun I want, as one of my local dealers transfers for $20 bucks hehe. Anyways, here are ones that I narrowed down in my price range that I would be interested in.

Mossberg 500 20" barrel 8-shot $329 (final price)
Mossberg 590 20" barrel 9-shot $379 (final price)

The Maverick is out of the question when I can get an a 500/590 for these prices. The question is, is there enough features/advantages on the regular blued 590 to justify an extra $50 bucks? The 500 weighs 7 pounds, the 590 7 1/4'' so weight is neglible. I really won't need a bayonet on my shottie, but don't know if the 590 is a more robust version of the 500. the 590 being the standard blued model, I believe it still has the polymer safety/trigger guard, so that is neglible. I definitely want a Mossberg, as I fell in love with the features of the 500A Mariner I sold stupidly. I have a Remington, and don't can to get another, so I am not even considering one. Any replies/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The 590 is more adaptable to adding accessories such as extended mag tubes, etc. due to the barrel attachment method used on the 500 with no magazine cap.

The 590 has a heavy-walled barrel, metal trigger guard, metal safety button, and a magazine tube that can easily be opened for cleaning.

Well worth the extra $50 bucks in my opinion.

Shirley, you jest!

Benelli spare parts are made out of Unobtainium, by Italian criminals they only let out of jail once a year for one day on a work release pass.

Took me six months and $88+ bucks to get a left hand rubber recoil pad for one of their Comfortec stocks for a guy.

$88 bucks for a frikken rubber recoil pad!
Give me a break!

Don't even bother trying to get an extra barrel or pistol grip stock!

I had the 590 9-shot. For a difference of $50, it is definitely the better deal. Just the extra shell alone is worth it, considering that they're both 20".

I like the 590, but dislike either with full length magazine tubes.

Just don't like how they handle and would opt for the heavy barreled 18" gun.

This is just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.

Both the 500 and 590 will serve you well.

Give your local shop some business and save a hundred bucks or so on a good used one, ive seen used full length mavericks go for 150 dollars OTD, and good used 500s go for 190.

I went with a 590A1 18" but that included a two round extension. The 20" with the steel parts is definitely worth it but its a honking hefty and serious gun. My reccomendation?

The ORIGINAL 590 (not A1) light-weight 8+1 20" and change the safety to metal.

I've got a 20" 500 but if they would have had both side by side for $50 I probably would have got the 590.

I like the full length mags, the extra weight up front is a great way to keep down the muzzle-rise.
