This is a gorgeous range just off I-35 at Davis south of Oklahoma City. I showed up in time to get on a .45 team to shoot the team match and then shoot the LEG and the Distinguished Revolver match. I was second non-distinguished in the LEG and missed points. Just not enough folks shooting. (Of course if I SHOT better that wouldn't be a problem.)

I shot the revolver match but was DQed for not using lead RN ammo. My reading of the rule book is that that rule has been updated in 2005 to allow any 158grn round nose or semi-wadcutter. No mention of lead in the update. I'm sure they will figure it out. I did shoot the high score. I was glad I finished the match and turned in my scorecard.

Range is very nice-like shooting on a close-cut yard. Hard for me to get much information on, though I did find some other shooters who helped me locate it. Like the Texas Pistol Championship, it didn't seem to be linked anywhere...and like most Bullseye Pistol matches these days, just not enough people shooting it. I googled it up and there was a news account of the 1964 match with 210 competitors, Bob Hope and Roy Rogers in attendance. I think we had less than 20 on Sunday.

The Oklahoma Rifle Regional and the OK Pistol Regional run the same weekend. That must be the good weekend. I wish one of them would move a little.

Great guys and very helpful. I'm learning a lot in every pistol match and starting to learn who is who. There were some very knowledgeable and helpful folks there. We'll see how they handle this rule issue.

Didn't take long...

Looks like the 2006 update put the lead bullet requirement BACK in after having it out in 2005. Lead round nose or semi-wadcutter bullets factory new or factory remanufactured only.

This is one of the things I'm going to bring up at Camp Perry when they have the meeting regarding the DR match.

The CMP allows reloads for the Leg match as long as they're 230 grain FMJ or a FMJ in the 9mm. Why the NRA requires factory or remfg ammo has never been really explained in the DR match. And, I'd really like to know why it's only 158s and not 148's as well.

Also, I really need them to clarify the new change to how they give out Leg points for the DR match. The new chart and explanation are contradictory in the 2007 rule change.

And I'm still waiting for the CMP to post our individual scores from Panola and Dallas. That one match is screwing up everything. Guess it's time for another email to the CMP.
