I made this thing in 1970 to sharpen the Old Bear single-blade broadheads.
I no longer have any Bear broadheads, so used a Stanley knife blade to take this picture.

The principal is the same, except the jig end fit against the Bear broadheads ferrule at the exact angle to hold the opposite side blade 90 degrees to the stone, and the edge sharpening angle was just exactly purrfect.

It worked so good I was almost afraid to go hunting with them!!
I mean, the true meaning of Scary Sharp was them!

The same jig could or can be altered to different edge angles and blade widths just by changing the roller wheel size to larger or smaller.

Come to think of it, I need to make some new wheels in several sizes.

The dang thing worked just pretty darn good!

No need to change the size of the wheel -- just make some extra holes in the handle to set it at different distances from the end.

Nice little unit, though.

Good idea!

All I need is a bigger axle in the middle to fit the big holes I already have!

Why didn't I think of that?? :banghead:

Great idea for years gone by and could probably be used for some today.

I still have some Bear blades and a some insert blades as well. Matter of fact, the Whitetail Hunter is still hanging in the garage covered with dust and webs.

I was thinking about trying to sharpen a couple Spitfire 100 blades that have recently gone through a couple deer although I will more than likely just buy replacements.
