Trying to dig out some facts re a quite old British breechloading revolver. I believe it was used by a Canadian police force years ago.
3 1/2" barrel, approx .44 calibre, centrefire, six shot, loading gate on RH side but cylinder easily removable. Strap is marked DAVID BENTLEY / MAKER BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND. My gut says 1870-1890 period.
The only reference I have been able to dig out is a rather obscure statement on the web saying that Bentley and Webley "shared patents."
Any info or good guesses would be appreciated. Thanks.
