I have an older Remington 20g under the Browning patent. I have asked several people about the gun and everyone wants to buy it but I can't get them to give a value ... they just want to purchase it. If anyone knows anything about this I would be grateful to hear or if you can send me to an honest person to give me a value on it. it says "The Sportsman" on it and by the trigger engraved is 10D.11-D with #9936. There is a lot of engraving all over the gun, barrel and the extra barrel is plain. I have been offered a lot of money for the case ($1,000) which is formed leather and holds the 2 barrels and the gun, broke down. I have owned the gun for over 30 years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a 16ga with "The Sportsman" on the left side of the reciever. Duck on one side, pheasant on the other, very light embellishment compared to todays guns. Mine's a 3 shot. I figure mine's worth 400, maybe 500 on a really good day. Six digit serial. It spent 30 years in an attic, placed by an ex husband and unknown until the owner was packing for a move.

Your's sounds a lot nicer. You might see if Remington has any record of it, maybe it was a special order.

Maybe someone will come along with a bit more info. Photos are always helpful.

Well the market is soft right now, but there are Remington D grade collectors out there. The 20ga is a plus also. I'd guess $2000 for the ensemble would be realistic right now. 10 years ago it might have approached $3000 !
