Hi guys & gals

Looking for some suggestions for what to do with an old shotgun.

It was in a group of guns that I bought.

Obviously a Browning Patent Remington model 11. I can't figure out what it is worth.

If it is not particlarly interesting or rare I think that a short barrel would make it into a great by-the-door gun as it looks cool and surely would do the job.

Your thoughts are appreciated

It's prob worth 250.00 to 350.00, depending on overall condition. May be a good dove gun, but it will kick a "little". Might make good trading stock somewhere down the road.

Around here, well-used Rem11s go for around $250 and clean ones can clear $400. Most sell for around $250. It looks like a 12ga, but if its 20ga it may be worth a bit more.

If you can read the date code on the barrel you can find the manufacture date here.

As for value, I see them here at pawn shops for 400+ frequently if in fair shape. I have one that I shoot better than my Beretta, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I am not wild about cutting the barrel. Is is interchangable with the Browning?

I have the gun Remington produced based on this one, the 11-48, and I have to say that it is incredibly reliable. It had been sitting in someone's closet for 20 years, made its way to the shelf of a gun store, and I picked it up and put 50 rounds through it without so much as wiping the dust off. Never had a single issue with one, and there's not a whole lot of difference in the operation of the 11 and 11-48 (both recoil).

I'd shine it up a little and have some fun with it, but not cut it. I don't do that to anything that old.
