Older Anti

I'm with Vern Humphrey on this one, I also served 2 tours in Viet Nam (finally, someone that knows how to spell the country's name correctly) I've had a CCW for almost as long and definitely PRO 2A but I do know some of the guys I served with are antis. Remember, many people in that era were anti war and that may have rubbed of on some returning Vets. I for one wasn't influenced by them.

Personally, I fought for all to have their views and opinions, pro, anti and somewhere in between.

He has the right to express his opinion and ask WHY?

You have the right to state, because it is your right and privildge.

That should be the end of the discussion. Unless he does not allow you in the same room, house, area while you are carrying. If that is so, you have to weight the relationship to your needs to carry.

Sorry, but no easy way out of this except starring it right in the eye, stateing a fact and then talking about fishing or cars or woman or whatever.

Regards,
Mike

He fought in Vietnam? or was he a REMF pushing paper because he was a pacifist

I take this as an insult not only to myself but to all the rest who served during action. I did not serve in action, I sat at a desk and yes I pushed papers all over the place. I served where my orders were cut for and did so willingly as we all did, yourself encluded.

When I took one step forward and raised my hand and said the oath I gave the U.S.A. a blank check for everything I had encluding my life, furthermore they have yet to ask me to forget the oath.

You sir owe many of us an apology.

For some reason my wife's family is chocked full of antis... I don't talk about it, they don't talk about it.

Ok, went to make a list, but jumped in number. I thank every Veteran who posted or viewed on this post. God bless.

I am sorry, didn't mean to insult you, but we had a few pacifist in the units I served in. During my 66 months in Viet Nam anyone not in a combat unit was called a REMF. If a pacifist was assigned to a combat unit and if it was at all possible we tried to accommodate them by not assigning them to a combat position. In my 24 years of service I had the pleasure to have served in combat as a trooper and as a 1st Sgt.
I thank you and your Grandfather for your service in what ever capacity you both served.

My Father & my best friends Father both served in Vietnam. They were also both in considerable action/combat. Neither one talks/talked (my friends father passed away) about it much. But we've heard stories.

My Dad went on to become a police officer, and had a very distinguished career with a State Agency. He's very Pro 2nd & RKBA. He's carried most all of his adult life.

My friends Dad on the other hand. Got out, and got a good job with GM. He lived a good life & he was a GREAT man. He was definitely the kind of guy that this country needs more of. Good, honest, hard working with stand up values. However, he never touched another gun after the war. I wouldn't have considered him "Anti" he just wasn't into guns.

All I'm saying, is that war effects everyone in different ways. Maybe he's not really "Anti". Maybe he just doesn't see the reason to CC. Just keep it concealed, and give the man all the respect he deserves...
