I paid $400 for this 870 TB in May:

Private sale from the original owner.
I was wondering what you paid for that ;).

Interesting, you can find these guns anywhere from $250-$1000. Depends on alot of things, but if you go anywhere online looking for a VRib bbl for these guns you're going to pay $350+ from most places I've checked. It's weird, the rifled slug barrels used to be the most expensive and hardest to find, now I find those in stock everywhere for cheap and it's the "18-20"-28"-30" smoothbore bbls that are hard to find and prices through the roof. At least from what I'm seeing. Pay more for the barrel now than most people paid for their 870's a few years ago.....

It will be nice when the market isn't so crazy. Maybe 2024-2028 will be a good time to buy guns and ammo again.....

Interesting. The tab follower is a mandatory upgrade IMHO if one wishes to use an older 870 for defensive action. While a shell being caught in front of the latches and atop the carrier can be largely mitigated with proper reloading technique, such a stoppage will render the gun completely useless with the old style follower.

You are referring to the Flex Tab carrier, but there are three other parts needed to complete a Flex Tab conversion on an older Wingmaster. You need the Flex Tab carrier, modern breech bolt, modern slide assemble and a modern action bar tube.

That shotgun was made between 69 and 73 with an "S" preceding the serial number. If it was a police version it is a classic. 400 to 500 would be a fair price if it is in good shape.

My Wingmaster was made in the 70's. It was my first shotgun and one of two I'd never sell. Finish is nearly worn off completely has light pitting all over it but the bore is like a mirror and it functions flawlessly. Has a 30" fixed improved cylinder barrel with the vent rib. Gonna get a full choke barrel or one that's threaded for screw in one of these days

Solid blue-collar shotgun. Without pic`s can`t place a value on the one you're interested in.
Other posters may venture a guesstimate.

An older Wingmaster is exactly what I would use in a HD situation should I be faced with that extreme.

20” Remington rifle sight barrel
Synthetic furniture
Rem +2 extension with Wolff spring
Six Federal No. 1 Buck in the mag
Sidesaddle with three more Federal loads and three 1 oz Winchester segmenting slugs.

I truly hope I never need it, but it is at the ready if I do.

Stay safe.
