Ah, Krag!

I haven't checked the numbers to get the exact date of manufacture, but I think it's got to be my somewhat sporterized 1898 Krag. I'm not the original owner, of course. Next up would be a Winchester 1894 that a great-uncle bought not too long after handing back his own Krag at the end of the Spanish-American War. Then there's a BSA Martini Cadet rebarrelled to .218 Bee, and my old favorite Winchester 52B from the mid-1930s. I think the only rifles I own from the current millenium are a couple of AR-15s and a Browning BLR. Call me reactionary or maybe just spoiled, but there's not too much on the dealers' shelves these days that I find very appealing. Investment castings and plastic just don't melt my butter.
