i just recently purchased my P229r .40 brand new on a local gunstore. i've notice that my P229r's firing pin positioning pin is different than that installed on the P229r as shown in sig's website. is that installed on mine still an original/standard? below is the pics of the said part:

I'm looking at my 229 right now and your pin is the same as mine, I bought it new several years ago and I just went and looked at my dad's 229 which is a couple of years old and it is the same also.

Yours is a roll pin. Both of my P229R's have a solid pin, as do my P226R's. I suppose it could be just a design change, or if it was a police trade in, maybe it was a service thing.

sokygunner,

is your 229 also the railed version? because i've also notice that the non-railed version has also the same pins but examining it closely, it's still not quite the same because the pins of the of the non-railed 229's have the horse shoe shape like locks at the end of the pin, mine does not have any, i'm just concern of my purchase that i have bought an altered pistol considering that prices of firearms in our country are jacked-up almost to the double compared to the U.S., it really sucks here in terms of gun pricing, i've got mine for USD1,600

Hmmm

...

Both my 229 n/r 40's have a solid pin, as does my *P229R CT 9mm..

My *9mm was purchased NIB 2yrs ago.. fyi

Could be a new design change as mentioned or, as mentioned, a repair if it was possibly a re-furbished trade-in..

A quick call to Sig CS should be able to answer all questions, come Monday.

Mine are the railed version P229's. Other than the pin, mine look just like yours. Perhaps it has something to do with where they are made. Is the roll pin a single pin, or is it two pins, one nestled in the other? I cant really see the pin to clearly in your pic. The two nestled roll pins is how they were done on the older, stamped slide guns, and perhaps guns not made/assembled in the US still have them.

You may want to check over at the SIG forum, your answer is probably there.

Mine is not the railed version, but the pin is in the exact same location as your's. My pin is not a standard roll pin like the one in your pic, it is smooth on both sides of the slide but the pin is the same size and in the same location. I personally would not worry about it, but if you are concerned Sig Sauer has a service through their custom shop where you can send them any Sig that you purchased used and they will completely strip the gun down to individual parts, replace anything that is damaged, worn, incorrect, so on and so forth, completely rebuild the gun as far as the mechanics of the gun go, put it in a new sig case and send it back to you and then I believe they place a warranty on the weapon seeing as how it is a factory rebuild. The service is about $100-150 if my memory is correct. Information about this can be found on sigsauer.com under their price list of custom services. I have used their custom shop services a couple of times and they are very good people to work with. Hope this helps.
