Why Is Your CCW Handgun Your CCW Handgun ???

I carry a Kimber Tactical Ultra when I'm dressed for it.
(Kimber Ultra Carry equipped with Crimson Trace laser grips after dark)

Reasons,
It's a 45 ACP.
It's extermely accurate and reliable.
It's small and light.
It's a 1911 (clone)
It's the BEST gun I've found for the job.

I carry a Kel Tec 32 or 380 equipped with a Pocket Slipper laser for a pocket gun ALL the time.

Reasons,

Very small and light so I can have it with me all the time.
Reliable.
With the laser quick repeat hits are a sure thing.
It's the BEST gun I've found for the job.

I carry a Kel Tec P-11 9mm/40cal in my boot if I'm not dressed but feel the need to carry a more powerful gun than the 380.

SA Ultra compact V-10

I used to carry a Dan Wesson 357 6" W/ 158 JHP's.
I never felt undergunned with it ,but it was a little bulky to conceal well.
A few months ago I decided I needed a smaller carry gun,
Fell in lust with a SA 1911 Ultra Compact.
Smaller but bigger works for me:D

Were I live threat level is low so my normal carry is my PPK/s or a Colt Mustang. Going to either of the big L 's I carry 45 and other as BUG in pocket hols

Colt Government model. I've had it for 20+ years. Utterly reliable.

I've been thinking of late that I might lighten the load a bit with a Commander or similar. Para's new LTC has my interest. We'll see.

I have a 442 and a P3AT to fill the BUG role. I have the 1911 on me 99% of the time.

I carry my G-26 most of the year. It conceals well in a fobus paddle holster. It has all the advantages of a full size Glock in a small package(even night sights!). 10+1 rounds of 147gr. RangerT is a good thing. When it's too hot to hide a G-26, I use my trusty 649 snubby with 135+P Golddots.

Springfield govt model 1911, conceals easier for me than my Glock 19, is more comforatable for me than my G19, and has been totally reliable. Plus it's a 1911 :D I do carry my G19 on occaison and trust it just as much as I do the Springfield, but I'm just more comfy with the pig on my side

With clothes that I can conceal a Sig p225 in Rosen ARG with 100gr 9mm +P powr'balls. When it is hot I carry a 442 in kramer pocket holster with corbon 125gr +P .38.

Steyr M40

I can hit a target without having to aim

It shots every time I pull the trigger

All the edges are round so I don't have anything cutting into my side

It carries well IWB

Hopefully I can get a S9 to go with it soon.:D

99% of the time, I carry a S&W 442 Airweight 38 spl with 158 swc-hp +p ammo.
Now, this is in addition to something else, if possible. But, in the rare cases that I can't carry something else along with it, at least I have IT.

*It's small and light. I hardly notice it.
*It carries in a front pants pocket. If I "have that feeling" I can put my hands in my pockets, and have the grip in my hand, ready to go.
*It's a revolver, and finger-powered. I use a pocket holster, but there is still a lot of lint and crud that can get in the works. I feel that with a revolver, I can squeeze through any crud that might get in the works.
*Enough power. I certainly don't feel overgunned, but it's probably "enough" for most things.

Now, besides that, I carry as a "main" gun, one of the following:
1- 1911
2-Browning HiPower
3-HK P7M8

Not planning on being in any major gun battles...so..KT P3AT for now. Small, light, accurate, not powerful by any means but 7 rounds of .380ACP is nothing to laugh at. Better than 5 rounds of .38 spl I used to carry IMO.

Looking at Kahr's PM but have read about quite a few problems. :(

CZ RAMI right now!

Like others I have gravitated to smaller CCW weapons. For a long, long time it was a Glock 26 in a Sidearmour IWB holster. That's continues to be a good carry combo for me. I now much prefer the CZ RAMI. Same size category as the G26 but I like the platform a lot better. In a HBE holster it has proven to be a stellar combination for me. Good shooting;)

Springfield Champion "Loaded", SS most of the time in a Milt Sparks VM-II. Only mod from stock is an arched MS housing. Proven to me to be 100% reliable, more accurate than I can hold for without sandbags, and came with almost all of the bells and whistles I wanted.

In tee shirt weather, my Star M43 9x19 in a Sparks Summer Special. Fixed Meprolites replacing the stockers and a slightly heavier recoil spring are the only mods. Again absolutely reliable, puts the 124 gr. Gold Dots exactly where I point it and requires a minimum of routine maintenance with its Starvel finish.

"New York Reload" and "Always" is a Keltec P-32. Mine has worked 100% and hasn't broken anything in over 1K rnds of practice.

I either carry my .380 Makarov (commercial Bulgarian) or my FN Forty-Nine in .40S&W.

The Makarov was my first and only carry weapon for a while. Reliable, accurate and easy to conceal. The 95grn .380 Winchester Supreme SXT's provided a decent round should I ever need it.

The FN Forty-Nine is lightweight for a fullsize gun and has an excellent firing mechanism. I'd prefer a little shorter overall length, but it's not bad for IWB carry at about 4o'clock.
The 180grn Gold Dots will certainly do the job and when the AWB expires, some full cap mags will make things even better without too much weight.

Eventually, the FN will be my winter/truck gun, but until the P-01 arrives, the Forty-Nine plays everyday CCW/home defense/range/vehicle defender.

G17 9mm:

pros

-lightweight
-reliable
-doublestack mags (17+1)
-comfortable to shoot and draw

neutral;
-no manual safety

cons;
-tiny little baby bullets
-a little bulky, for me, for everyday carry, but not too bulky cause I still carry it.

This time of year my first choice for carry, these days is my Kahr PM9 due to it's SMALL, light size, and it is very very accurate for such a small pistol. So far it's been VERY reliable once fully broken in (500+ rnds) I had a Kimber Tactical Ultra (3" 1911 .45) I tried to carrry but recently sold it since it's no easier to conceal than my 4" Wilson SDS. When the weather gets colder and I can wear a little heavier clothes, I will probably swap out the Kahr for the Wilson, and the heavier firepower/additional round in the mag of my .45 over a 6 shot mag 9mm.

I am surprised to see only a few Sig responses so far. My carry is the P-239
when dress will not allow the Sig, I carry the P-3AT hard chrome slide bug.
The Sig is as reliable, accurate and concealable as any gun I could find in my research for a carry piece. It is also one very rugged type of pistol and I believe with proper care it will last a life-time. The P-3AT is my always gun, if I can't carry the Sig I will ALWAYS have the bug with me in a Ron Graham holster.

I have however been bitten by the 1911 bug and plan to purchase early next year. Maybe a Colt CCO, I have heard Colt will start producing them in the line up early next year. Maybe a Commander, but I still am several months away from making that purchase,so anything goes between now and then.

When we get CCW in KS :cuss: my primary will by my CZ 85 Compact because I have 100% faith in the gun and shoot it extremely well and it's just small enough to CCW in a nice IWB holster.

For hot weather / BUG I have a CZ 2075 RAMI in .40 S&W because it will share ammo/mags with my primary and I can shoot it pretty well.

Neither gun is extremely compact or light but they perform well and I'm confident in them. Doesn't hurt that both with tax set me back less than a grand so I could actually afford to get them both and practice with them.

SIG P229.

Why?... Because it is everything my Bersa Thunder .380, CZ-75D PCR and Kahr K40 Elite were supposed to be but weren't.

POWER + RELIABILITY + DURABILITY + ACCURACY + CAPACITY.

Whenever the weather permits and I can dress for it, however, my L10 IPSC buddy ( a custom Kimber Gold Match ) enjoys preferential status.
