Why Is Your CCW Handgun Your CCW Handgun ???

I carry in a SmartCarry so the most important things to me are barrel length and flatness. Right now, I'm carrying a Compact Springfield and I have no complaints as far as comfort goes. It has a decent amount of firepower on hand with WC 7 round mags and since the mags are very flat, it's easy to carry a spare.

I have a couple of other pistols that I have carried, but I don't carry them regularly.

My Beretta Tomcat is both underpowered (I feel) and not really reliable at this point. I get stovepipes in it often enough that I don't trust it.

I also have a S&W 1076 that I would actually prefer to carry because I am a bit more comfortable with the DA/SA design. I also prefer the 10mm as a defensive caliber. But I just got it recently and it's unproven as of yet and probably needs to go to the factory for some work. The 1076 is kind of pushing the limits of practicality in the SmartCarry due to the barrel length.

Was issued a 45 when i went to nam in 67, really liked it, carried it there for 2 yrs and bought one when i got out. I have tried revolvers and different autos but am most profecient with the 45. Have about 9 different 1911s kimber SA colt DW all barrel sizes so i carry what i can shoot. Have 2 glocks but they are fun guns, just for the range, just cant get used to the feel.

It's been awhile since I've been here. My primary carry gun is a Glock Model 27. Another one I carry on occasions is my S&W Model 649 in 38 spl. Both are easy to conceal and have been proven to be reliable. For a fast trip to the corner store a Beretta M21A fits right in my front pocket.

Ruger Redhawk

I carry an H&K P7PSP. Why? Reliablity, accuracy and mostly

CONFIDENCE!

I am quite pleased at how well I can shoot the little P7PSP. It gives me the confidence to trust a 9mm when I know I can shoot it well and accurately quickly. Now the fact that it is built like a tank, thin and easy to carry are all pluses in my book.

Model 60 .357 Mag J- Frame.

All steel = very durable and better for hot loads.

Can be shot in single action = better accuracy and with right holster makes no big difference.

Revolver = virtually eliminating worries of misfires, jams, etc. and goes Kaboom every time.

J-Frame = can be easily carried and concealed many different ways.

.357 Mag = great choice and flexibility of ammo, found anywhere, enough power to be more than adequate or can shoot wimp-ass rounds in .38 for plinkin.

My "always" gun is a Kahr MK40 in a Don Hume pocket holster with a magazine of Speer 155gr Gold Dot JHP's and a backup magazine with 180gr FMJ. There are plenty of black bears and mountain lions in my area so I will switch to the magazine of FMJ if working in the yard (still a Gold Dot in the chamber). It is very easy to just put it in my pocket.

In winter I often carry a Para Ordnance 12.45 LDA 45ACP carried in a Milt Sparks Versa Max IWB or a fanny pack. I keep it loaded with 230gr Ranger +P and carry 2 extra magazines. I like this gun best and it is more accurate than the Kahr, but less convenient to carry.

.38 body guard air weight unless it's very cold.
Then I'm surprisied nobody mentions a 629 .44 magnum (because the 3 is just slightly bigger than a .357 k in 4in.) :neener:

I end up trading off between half a dozen pistols depending upon season , what I'm wearing , how I'm feeling and what I've shot or not most recently but it all comes down to if I have faith in the gun and it carries well ; if it passes that subjective test then I feel fine carrying everything from an HK4 mouse gun to a .357 Sig .
Lately , I've been carrying a Beretta 9000S 9mm most : other than being abnormally wide it's one of my favorite carry guns as I'm able to shoot it so well .

I carry my Sig-Pro in .40...

Pro's:
1. Its a Sig
2. I like .40 S&W
3. I have done quite a bit of range time with it practicing.
4. Its a Sig
5. Due to its size, its easy to control
6. Durable finish (so far anyway)

Con's:
1. Its big...although, I have learned to conceal it pretty well IMHO

For me, it's pretty easy. I only own one gun. :D

Colt Pony Pocketlite. In pocket carry, or occaisionally IWB (It came with both holsters)

When I had a SW1911 I'd carry that, but it was hard for me to conceal with the style of dress I had to wear at work. Same with the P22 when I had that.

I carry a H&K USP Compact in 45 acp because it has been 100% reliable. I've shot about 7k rounds thru this gun and it has never failed to feed/fire/eject everything I've put in the magazine. It "points" nicely too.
