Let's not forget our vets on the day they made possable for us to celebrate. All gave some, some gave All. Everyone have a safe and happy 4th. John

I hate to split hairs but the veterans who really made the 4th what it is are from the revolutionary war. I certainly don't want to belittle the sacrifices and efforts of our troops in other wars and confilicts but this day is more about those original American soldiers, citizens, and the Founding Fathers who risked everything in to create this great country and the ideas and dreams they had about what America should be.

Again, no disrespect at all for our men and women in uniform, the country owes them a debt of gratitude we'll never be able to repay.

No disrespect taken. Two things.

1. The sacrifices that we make, and the ultimate sacrifice that some gave, and will give today, tomorrow, and forever, are easily repaid. Live the American dream. We fight for a reason, to protect America and her people, and living life and loving your country is repayment.

2. The Fourth IS about our founding fathers. We get Veterans day, and Memorial day. The Fourth is for remembering the sacrifice they made, the risks they took, the founding, and the History of our great country. So be Thankful for us every day, but the Fourth is a celebration of all Americans.

For me, July 4th is a day best spent at the range. ;>

Help show you support for America by blowing up a small piece of it. -APU

I hate to split hairs here myself BUT if not for our Vets - we might not be able to celebrate the 4th of July. However, I suppose we could say that about all holidays......

The vets have nothing to do with the 4th for me. And if any country were to bring something to our shores, they would undoubtedly find out what the militia is which I hope would include some vets.

The 4th of July is also a time we should be thankful we live in a country that we can be free to discuss topics on a forum like THR and not have to worry that the Government might arrest anyone based on what we say.

I appreciate the 2ND Ammendment "Freedom to bare arms" and the recent Supreme Court decision that protects that right.
