If you were limited to only one handgun, and one box of ammo, what would your choices be ? Part 1: If money were no object ? Part 2: In your current budget ? Please be specific and give full info on gun and type of ammo. Both can be the same.

Get it ?
Got it ?
Good !

Go for it !:)

Part 1: A Sig P210 with a box of 147 gr HSTs

Part 2: An H&K USP45 v1 with a box of 230 gr HSTs

Part 1: Smith and Wesson Model S&W500 (4 inch) Buffalo Bore 400 grain jacketed flat nose
Part 2: Glock 17 Gen4 with Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +p

1. Full house custom 1911 in .45 or Super .38 - from Heirloom Precision, I think. Does a 1000 rd case of Speer 230 gr Gold Dots/Corbon DPX 125 gr +P count as just one box?

2. My Colt Wiley Clapp Government. Speer 230 gr Gold Dot.

Can I keep my .22 conversion kit or no?

Part 1: Gen 3 Glock 19 configured to fit my hand, i.e. finger grooves removed. 124 gr Federal HST.

Part 2: Gen 3 Glock 19 configured to fit my hand, i.e. finger grooves removed. 124 gr Federal HST.

Since the ammunition is limited to 50 rounds (post 29 or 30), no reason to play this game.

Colt Special Combat Government with Speer 230 gr. Gold Dot ammo.

In addition I'm also keeping my TacSol .22 conversion assembly with a brick of Wolf Match Target ammo.

Whatever I could sell for the most money.

I don't have any use for any gun with only one box of ammo to go with it.

A gun you can't train and practice with is just an expensive talisman.

Wouldn't that kind of depend on how big the box was?

When I was stationed overseas in the mid-70's on a special weapons site, we only had one box of .223 in the guard house.

It was either 12,000 or 15,000 rounds, I don't remember which. Anyway, I would think that a box of that quantity would easily supply you with enough to train and practice with for at least a year or so.

Awesome, you're right! I could get by on a couple tons of ammo, if that's what fits in the box.

I think this question would be better phrased "If you were limited to only one handgun, and one type of ammo, what would your choices be?"

Well since the O.P didn't define the size of the box so the field is wide open.
But resupply will eventually become a problem.

My choice will be a flintlock pistol with a large container of blackpowder. Since everything for a flintlock comes from nature resupply will not much of a issue.

Part 1 - SIG P220 Carry SAS Gen 2 Nitron + Federal 230gr HST LE

Part 2 - Glock 19 w/Heine night sights + Federal 124gr +P HST LE

If you can only have 1 gun & caliber, you need a gun & caliber that does it all;

Dan Wesson Titan 10mm & 1000 rounds of Georgia Arms New Canned Heat 10mm 180gr Full Metal Jacket ammo. Since I can only have 1, I can spend $3,829.00 for it

Ok but only if this counts as one box of ammo.

In that case here's a list of possible suspects
3" Smith 629 and fill the box with Fed 240 hydra shoks
Wiley Clapp GP100 with 145gr Silvertips
Les Baer 45 with 230 Golddots
Dan Wesson PM7 10mm with Georgia arms 180 goldots
CZ Tac Sport 9mm with 124 +p golddots.

I already own it. A S&W 629 Mountain Gun in .44 Mag. Ammo would be a mid range load using a 250gr Keith style bullet. Like Mavracer indicated, I'd like it by the BOXcar please. ;)

I've shot IDPA courses and hit metallic silhouette targets at a couple hundred rounds with that pistol and load in the past.

I really couldn't think of a better "for the rest of your life" type gun no matter what the expense.

While he's got a lot of posts under him, methinks the OP sounds too much like
a representative of the current administration....
All you plebes be happy with one gun and one box of ammo, we'll keep regulating and taking care of you...

No offense to the OP, Please pass the popcorn.
