I have been working on one handed reload and malfunction drills. Question for those of you who practice these types of drills who carry a Glock.

1. When working with your weak hand, how do you drop/remove the mag? I have tried using the index finger of my weak hand but don't feel real good about making this happen under stress. The other thing I have tried is securing the gun between my knees, handle up, with the muzzle pointed away from me. I press the release with my middle finger and sort of pull up on the mag with my thumb and index finger. This for some reason works better for me but I'm thinking maybe there is a better/simpler way that I'm missing.

2. How do you clear a double feed with one hand? I actually caused a double feed using my snap caps when I made a bad attempt at clearing the chamber using one hand and hooking the sites on the back of my shoe. In the comfort of my own home I was completely flustered and could not get it cleared with one hand, yikes. Yes, I know some of you will say that the odds of this happening in real life are slim, but I would still like to know the best way, if there is one.

If you do have a back up gun, I'd transition to that before trying to clear a double feed with one hand. It is doable, but it's difficult and not especially quick.

I'll poke around and see if anyone did a tutorial with pics.

1. that's the way i was taught to do it, but i do drop the mag before it goes between my knees

2. you have to release the mag first, then rack the slide to clear the action, load a new mag and rack the action again. i usually use my shoe as a last resort, i usually start with the holster (all mine have a reinforced mouth) or a nearby hard surface
