Howdy, folks. I was at the range yesterday with my buddy. Between the 2 of us we had 2 .22LR single shots, a Ruger P89, Taurus 24/7, and an Army Surplus S&W .38 Spl. It started off good enough but quickly turned into a very good learning experience. First, when I was shooting the .38, I had a cartridge that was tough to put in the cylinder but for some reason I disregarded the common sense and forced it in. It shot fine, but I tried to eject the casings, I had to force it with quite a bit of strength to get them out. When I got them out I noticed that one casing was split from stem to stern. Uffda, that could've been bad. To make the day even better, I was chattering with my range buddy and forgot that I had loaded my .22. I had the gun pointed down range and my finger off the trigger. The only problem was my pin had been pulled back so when I pop the bolt to load it, the pin dropped and the gun fired. Yesterday I had my first ND. No one was injured, and nothing bad happened from it but take it from me, you can have fun when you're shooting, but pay attention to what you're doing.

Welll...if it went safely downrange and you were observing proper muzzle direction at a firing line...I guess -=maybe=- that could be chalked up as an ND but it's certainly not much of one.

Err, if you're finger wasn't on the trigger wouldn't that be an AD instead of an ND?

Not sure how this works:
The only problem was my pin had been pulled back so when I pop the bolt to load it, the pin dropped and the gun fired.

Well, I guess I'm still learning terminology (that's a good thing because once you think you know everything, you prove that you know nothing).
