So I just got one of the "authentic reproduction" USMC Kabar knives (at least its stamped "Olean, NY" as opposed to "Made in China":D ).

Anybody ever tried one of the "Accusharp" sharpening devices? They have a long list of testimonials on their site, and it seems pretty easy to use for a knife newbie.....

The accusharp will not be necessary to use in sharpening a new knife as a rule.

I use one every week to put a pirmary grind on knives that have been used and not sharpened for so long they no longer have a primary bevel so they may then be sharpened.

The accusharp leaves a primary bevel thats rough and then needs to be sharpened with standard stones from there.

The idea behind the accusharp is not to sharp, but restore the primary grind/edge so that it can then be sharpened in a conventional manner with a sharpmaker, lansky or standard arkansas stone.
