So I'm sick today, I've tried sleeping to avail, after a while I just grabbed my "knife box" (It's a box filled with knives, go figure :D) and started digging through it. Now before I go any further I have had a USMC KA-BAR for 2-3 years and always loved it, but until about a month ago I never knew the story of KA-BAR. I found it pretty cool that KA-BAR made every day outdoors man knives before the USMC fighting knife that everyone thinks of when they hear KA-BAR. Now, while sifting through knives I've bought at; gun shows, flee markets, our county fair, our local gun shop, ones I ordered from BUDK, and even some that were given to me by my dad (we all know no matter how cheap or plain they are, those will always be the best.) an older looking multi-blade one caught my eye so I picked it up and examined it. It was rusty and worn and looked like it needed some care, and it took a bit of work to get the blades to open. I instantly knew I was gonna fix this blade up when I felt better, I love "mature" knives. Before closing the blades backup some engraved text caught my eye, "Kabar". The pictures below are poor quality due to, not a poor quality cameraman but a poor quality camera :D.

That little silver plate on the side of the knife has the inscription "Kabar" while the blade reads "Kabar 1152 USA"

Anyone wanna offer some advice on how to restore this bad boy?

I'm no help on restoring it, but you jogged my memory. I have one just like it. Unless it migrated to California with my youngest son.

After a few days, some sweat, and only a little blood I have managed to get almost all of the rust off! I'm sad I don't have a better camera, because with what I have now you can't tell the before and after pictures apart :banghead:. I looked and looked and looked and finally I found some info on the knife, but not much. In fact all I really know is what it was called :D Scout Camp... I'm planning on wiping the blades down with some gun oil to discourage anymore rusting.

The blades are still a little stiff opening and closing, is there anything you guys would recommend using to fix this?

And if any of you guys know anything about this model or could give me any information at all it would be much appreciated. I'm guessing my knife was manufactured in the 60s or 70s but can't be sure.

UPDATE: So, being as dumb as I am I thought the 1152 on the blade had something to do with the metal used to make it, but it's actually the model number. I googled Kabar and the number and found some good info :D.
