Only One Gun: Do you know.........

I started this thread, believing the the "One Gun Man" DOES exist, but as some have noted, in different degrees as defined by the amount they shoot, etc. When I think of maybe someday being a one gun guy, I would probably still have several identical guns, in the event that one "went down"........I would just grab the next. If I grow to really like a gun, I try to find a backup just like it. Kind of like buying another pair of shoes when you find a pair that feel right.

I have multiple good friends that are one gun owners. Of that group I would say only 25% carry on any sort of regular basis, and the rest are kept in a safe at home.

I was a one gun guy for only a few days. They were dark and sad days, and I hope to never have to relive them again :)

I know a lot of shooters that have "one gun" for one discipline. And it's usually true that this guy is good at what he does. I shoot a lot of trap, and the guy with one gun for trap/skeet/hunting (like me) is normally better than the guy with a lot of different guns (for that discipline).

On the other hand, I own a lot of guns and shoot a lot of different disciplines - good at all of them but certainly not a master at any of them....

The only people I know that only own one gun don't really shoot much at all. They go to the firing range every couple of months the maintain a minimum level of proficiency, but that's it. Every serious shooter I know owns more than one (except for new shooters who just got started of course).

i currently only have one.

but its only because i cant afford to be buying more right now. and yes i shoot it frequently

God bless your grandfather TH.
I don't know anybody with one gun. I don't know anyone with only 5 guns. I know one guy that has 34 shotguns!!!!

I only have one gun.

Then again, I just got my first gun (of any type) 2 days ago, and I don't plan to stay in a 'one gun' state for very long.

I planned our trip to see my mother around the gun show at Vet's Memorial in Columbus, OH.

Then I'm going to the one in Charlotte when we come back. That will be 3 shows in 2 months. :D

I knew a guy who only owned one gun, then I bought it from him.

Now I know another guy who only owns one gun, sooner or later he'll get down on his luck to.

Own one gun

My Dad, from 1972 – 2000, owned a 3” square butt Chiefs Special I bought for him. He did not shoot much as his eyesight started to go bad about 1978 or so. But when he did run a few rounds through it watch out, the man was good; he should have been, he was taught to shoot by the late Jerry Campbell, special agent F.B.I.

Agent Campbell along with Jelly Bryce, and Clarence Hurt were recruited from the Oklahoma City P.D. shortly after F.B.I. Special agents were officially permitted to carry weapons. So the old adage about the man with one gun was true in his case.

My GF only owns one, I bought her a Bersa thunder .380 for valentines day about 4 years ago, but she may not count as she has access to any of the 40 that I own.

When I was 8 years old I had one gun (if you don't count airguns), it was a Marlin Model 60. That lasted one year until I was rewarded with a H&R .410 bore for a long summers work rogueing (sp?) beans and milo.

I know a guy who has half a gun. He wanted to get an AR to prepare for the apocolypse, just hasnt gotten around to picking up the other half in the last few years.

Nope, since I started collecting a year ago I'm up to 10 now. My goal is to have a room full in 30 years.:D

My problem is I like so many different types of guns...like Pokeman I want to collect them all.:D:cool:

Aside from the newly initiated participants, I don't know of any regular SHOOTERS who have only one gun. However, I know of quite a few non-shooters who have only one gun.

As posters on a gun forum, most of us forget that gun ownership and gun enjoyment are not always synonymous. Some people own just one gun, and keep it for personal protection (or other reasons). Some of those folks don't even really like guns, but keep them for the same reasons that they keep changing the batteries in their smoke detectors. However, those of us who would take the time to post on a gun forum are often the types of folks who enjoy shooting, hunting, competing and such, and we often own more than one gun.

I only have one gun as well, a Glock 27. If money were no issue, I would have a spare room full, but times have been really tight lately. I have my CCW and carry everywhere I go. I also carry it while at home, though often not on my hip. It's sitting on my desk in my Serpa 2 holster as I type this out.

I used to go shooting fairly regularly, but like I said, times are tight, and it's hard to justify spending 25 bucks on ammo for a shooting trip when it would be better spent on bills or food.

My wife and I do have a plan for the 600 bucks we're going to be coming into in a few months. Ruger LCP for her and a Mossberg 500 for the house. Single gun owner by necessity, not choice.

good to hear you should checK out my pokemon stuff on auction at EEEEEEEEEE-BAAAAAAAAAAA:D

As far as I know my landlord only has one gun, a Remington Nylon 66. I didn't know he had that one until he used it to kill a possum that was killing his hens. He might have others, but he's never mentioned them.

My father only had one. A 12 ga pump he used at the local firehouse turkey shoots.
