I live in TX. I was wandering if i travel to AZ, is legal to open carry even though im not a resident of AZ ? or do they require a class similar to a CHL class?

You can open carry. When you are in a car, keep the firearm either holstered on your hip, in a case, in the glove box, or in plain sight.

Open carry is totally okay.

Just make sure if you are carrying in your car...off body....your gun is in a "holster or case designed to carry a handgun". A gun UNholstered in the car...such as on the seat HAS been construed to be concealed. Don't ask me why...but just FYI.

If you have a pistol rug or cheap nylon holster you can carry in your glove compartment or under your seat and NOT be considered concealed. Same goes for map pockets and center consoles etc....

I know it is a small point, but one that is good to know.

I don't know about that. You don't need it to be holstered if its in plain sight and you don't need a holster for the glove box.
Here are most of Arizona's firearm laws that contain the term firearm.

This one is great also:

Weapon or holster, wholly or partially visible. This is in the works of being changed, as right now it says "belt holster". This needs to be any rig. Get a good looking leather holster, good professional sidearm, dress nice, and nobody will look twice. Now, if you're dirty, unshaven, packin' a Davis .380 in a Rhino rig, well, you will get some looks. Or, if you're in full Katrina gear, Serpa rig, tacticool vest, digital cammies, tricked out AR, well, you'll get some looks, and some tourist from New York will fall over from a heart attack...hey, go for it!

Do i understand this right? you can only open carry in your car? not outside the car....say to go in the corner store or super market..walkin down the street????

BTDT M from Mi and I open carry there every time I ride bike, or go to the Desert when visiting, that place is so cool, every one (almost) open Carey's at the flea market.

A buddy flew out to Arizona on business recently. In the more rural areas, it was quite common he said to see open carry, in the hardware store, grocery store, etc.

Not being from the area, he asked one petite lady if her G-21 wasn't a little big for CCW? Apparently she smiled and replied "Who's concealing it?"

You can open carry anywhere that is not identified in Arizona law.

Prohibitons on carrying firearms in these venues apply to both open and concealed carry.
Any establishment licensed to serve alcohol for on-premises consumption (e.g., a bar or restaurant, but not a liquor store or supermarket that sells alcoholic beverages in sealed containers).
Any establishment or event open to the public where the operator makes a reasonable request for you to give them custody or remove the weapon from the premises. A sign would qualify for such request. By law, cities and counties are required to offer on-site storage if they ban weapons but not all are in compliance.
The grounds of any public school, other than the parking lot. In order to be legal in the parking lot the weapon must be unloaded, and, if left in an unattended vehicle, such vehicle must be locked and the weapon out of sight.
State universities and community colleges. Community-college parking lots are treated like those of public schools.
Commercial nuclear or hydroelectric generating stations.
Polling places on election day.
Correctional facilities (this includes the parking lot of such facilities).
Game refuges (except during an authorized hunt).
