the opening day of duck season was a good one heres how it went:

ok so we slept over my friends house since he lives very close to where we hunt (were 16 so no driving licenses) and we wake up around 4 oclock and wait an hour for one of our other friends to show up with his ATV so he can shuttle our butts over to our duck and goose hunting spot around a mile or two away (better than having to carry all the decoys there on our backs lol) well when we get there theres a little spot where people can park and walk out on a pier to look at all the wildlife kinda close to where we hunt and so we spot a couple trucks there and we say awe crap so we continue and get ready to walk to our spot, and we hear a guy blowing on his duck call so we start talking and we hide the atv in some bushes and start walking and stumble upon a nice 4 way ditch and set up the decoys and start to hunt, the teal came into the dekes like there was no tomorrow that day we ended up with 18 teal, we got more than that but wasnt able to retrieve them (we looked but its either they were just wounded and swam away or they setteled up in an enclosed place where we couldnt see them its not like we didnt look for them i ended up even getting a 2 for 1 shot but couldnt find 1 of the 2)

nice teal...

I sure do hate loosing ducks in the swamp. Bring a dog next time and cut the lost duck numbers down by at least 50%. On top of it you'll have twice as much fun!

I have more fun now watching my little Golden bring back ducks, than even shooting them. If ducks continue to circle/land/whatever in range when I have ducks down and she's out on a retrieve, I'm often watching her instead of shooting. It's just a really special part of my (my family's) hunting.

Good hunting!
