Operation 1 mile

Dang!
The retail price of a 7-35 ATACR is worth more than all of my "good rifles" put together!
Forget it! I will continue shooting 1000 Yds. targets with my el cheapo stuff, but it is fo sho, I will not be part of the mile long club!

The 7-35 ATACR is one of the best tactical scopes in the world. Very robust, very good tracking, and phenomenal glass. I highly recommend it if you are shopping for a scope in that price range.

That being said, you dont need that to shoot a mile. Like was said before there are guys using far less expensive optics to compete and win competitions. There are plenty of scopes in the 1000ish dollar range that will get you to a mile.

Definitely not shopping for a scope, I just replied to the original post, and no, I will not purchase anything like that. I go the range to maintain proficiency, and have fun with friends (sometimes) and family. I maintain my level of competition with a rig that is way below the price of the ATACR, since we are only allowed 1-4.5 power scopes.

I think conditions may also weigh in on ones choice of optics and quality level.
Our conditions SEEM make optical quality less important than in other places. I can pick out a 1/2 Moa splotch on a 1moa target at 1K with zero issues thru any of our scopes, mirage is minimal at best where we shoot distance, and that washer lid at a Mile+ was still easy to pick out thru my Riton and the SIII......dealing with the wind gust blowing bullets 10-20' off target was more of an issue.
The rifle Im setting up for my dad to use at the extended ranges will probably ware an Arken SH4 G2 6-24x50, Ill PROBABLY set up my Riton as well and have it along if its needed. I put the EP5 I just got on my 28Nosler which will probably be what I take when we go.

What is the Riton model you use?
I was at my local range one day, and a fellow shooter mentioned Riton. It seems like the brand is affordable, and I like one of their Mil dot reticle scope that is right about $500 bucks. Also, their warranty seems solid!

I have a x5 Conquer 5-25x50 and x5 Primal 3-18x44, both are quite good for the cost and what they are designed for.......to be fair I tend to own "cheap" scopes for the most part, so i should probably stay out of these kinda discussions lol.

 I am not cheap. I am frugal!
But I know what you are saying. I just get on the conversation, but I know I cannot afford any of the high-end scopes.
Now, if I were a professional shooter with stickers on my chest, of course!
I am not even a contender, I am a pretender!
