All,

I am thinking about shooting 45 Super out of my Glock 21 Gen 4. The purpose is to be able to push a 230 grain bullet to 1,100 FPS. I have done some research and came up with the following setup:

KKM Match grade 45 ACP barrel
Lone Wolf stainless recoil spring with either 24 or 26 pound spring

What do you think of this? Is there anything else I need?

@bds

Thanks for the tip! I'll get some.

I plan upon buying Underwood, Double Tap and Buffalo Bore ammo for daily use.

You'll need to test JHP bullet integrity at 45 Super impact velocities. The best JHPs at uber velocities are the Barnes TAC-XP all copper bullets. In 10mm, Double Tap's 125gr TAC-XP bullet chronographed 1580fps from a Colt Delta Elite, as tested by Gunblast.

I don't think Double Tap manufactures defensive/tactical ammunition in 45 Super.

Check out the glocktalk forums. Folks there have a monster thread going with lots of experience toying with different setups. From my recollection, all you really need to safely shoot 45 super is better case support like the one you propose and stronger springs to feed reliably. The Super brass is probably a good idea but there are a couple folks there that apparently shoot 460 Rowland level loads with 45 acp brass, as they claim the fully supported chamber adds the needed strength.

460 Rowland loads out of regular 45ACP brass?
Ehhh.... I wonder how that brass looks after firing.
