New to the highroad (as far as posting)
I'm a police officer and I just purchased a new Gen 4 Glock 21.
I' am here to write a little review. Relatively new (not everywhere has them yet) and I shot it today with the Sheriff's Office. Everyone has seen or heard of the new self captured recoil spring (or dual recoil spring) anywho. The spring in the 9mm doesn't make that much of a difference. Maybe in the Glock 26, but not in the full size. The Gen 4 Glock 21 seems pretty much the same gun. In fact, a closer look it does have most of the same internals, but not all.
This new recoil spring is very effective, a lot less felt recoil. Also, there is no bever tail, and i have yet to try any bigger back straps.

Any questions??

thanks for the review. haven't heard very many on that gen4 as they just came out. they've all been good though.

the gen4 26 has the same upper assembly and recoil spring as the gen3's, so there's been no issues with those ones. the only gen4's with probs are the g17/19's.

are you able to post some pics? thanx :)

my glock 19 gen 4 has the newest spring in it 0-4-2, its been 100%.

Glock fudged the first release of their 9mm's. It has since been fixed by their new ones from what I can tell.

Glad to hear the 21 is running good for you.

Glock 21 photo's

The new Glock 21 had no isusses with feeding, or ejecting. glad to say.....The recoil spring looks the same as the other gen 4's but bigger.

here are some photo's'
notice the number on the cross in the back
another thing, the gen 4 17 & 22 have been fixed. they also sent out replacement springs for FTE (failure to eject) i never got mine for my Glock 19 because i buy and sell them so quick. The 4th Gen Glock 21 recently purchased will probably stay in my aresenal.

^^that's correct.

the gen4 21 (large frame) is 3mm's shorter front to back on the grip just like the gen3 21SF model.

the gen4 medium frames (like the gen4 23) are 2mm's shorter on grip smaller front to back.

yes

supposedly, i havent done any measurments.....but the grip is a less round, if that makes sense. its flat on the sides. also, the grip texture makes it seem smaller. I do feel like more of a BA when holding it. less slipping and better egronomics makes for a happier police officer.

but the grip is a less round,
I haven't handled the Gen 4 G21, but the other Gen 4 models I have handled seemed like the corners of the grip have been more rounded to me than the previous generations. Kind of like they put the router on that 2x4 of a Glock grip.

I suppose your description of the flat sides could also be true, but I really noticed how less square the Gen 4's seemed to me.

I did like the feel of the G21SF, but wanted to wait while Glock sorted out what was going to be the standard configuration, Glock rail or Picatinny, single side or dual side mag release, etc. My guess is the Gen 4 will settle on one form.
