I am narrowing down choices for a 1x sight for an AR.
My Criteria, in order of importance is:
1. Reliability ad Durability
2. Light Weight
3. Lower 1/3 co witness preferred. I'd also prefer a quick detach mount, so if the sight goes down i can get it off quickly.

I really like the idea of the Vortex Spitfire (dual red dot and etched reticle for redundancy) however I know it does not absolute or 1/3 cowitness. I am certainly open to other suggestions...red dots, etched reticles or otherwise. Thanks.

I have the poor mans Aimpoint; Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot. After getting a refund for the junk sold by Eotech, I was looking at Aimpoint. Because of the good reviews and the cost I took a chance on Primary Arms. I have no complaints so far.

"Aimpoint PRO. Many aftermarket mounts available."

An Aimpoint PRO is hardly light weight. Especially not with the standard mount it comes on.
Since price wasn't one of your factors, I'd suggest the Aimpoint T or H series. Plenty of mounting options for them. Not cheap though.

Spitfire comes configured at lower 1/3 cowitness. But it's a bit misleading being a prism optic.

Either an Aimpoint H1 or at a lower pricepoint, the Primary Arms advanced red dot OR the Holosun 403/503 series. I have owned all 3 and honestly, I cannot tell the difference side by side between any. They are all equal in actual use. In a go to war scenario, the Aimpoint would be my choice. For those of us NOT planning on airdropping into Fallujah, the cheaper dots more than suffice.

I like the Trijicon MRO but that may not fit the "lightweight" criteria?

The field of view is pretty large and mine has been getting tossed around pretty good at 2/3 gun competitions and so far so good. Battery life is supposed to be great, but only time will tell for sure.

At 4.1 oz the MRO is only 1.1 oz heavier than the Micro. I've got one on my FS2000 and really like it. I've got a couple of Holosun 403s, including one on my UTS-12 12 gauge and they've been problem-free. I would really consider the Aimpoint Micro too, for both reliability and battery life.
