Opinions on Leatherwood Mauser scope mount

I'm building a Mauser sporter and am interested in a scout scope mount and optics. It's a K98 action. I like this type of set up as I won't need to permanently modify my Mauser rifle. I'm just dropping the action into an aftermarket stock.

Any feedback on this or similar mount? While you're at it, any recommendations for a scout-style scope under $400?
