I recently picked up a primary arms slx 1- 8 ffp scope and noticed above the chevron there is a second shadow chevron. No matter how the focus is adjusted, that second chevron, which isnt solid but a shadowy fuzzy image, is there unless I blink and strain my eye. Is this an issue with the etching on the glass or more likely from my mild astigmatism? Haven’t had this issue with my vortex strike Eagle or red field scope. Thanks.

If it goes away from the blinking, I'd be inclined to think it may be related to your eyesight. Have you had someone else look through it to see if they see it as well?

I had my wife and a friend check it out and it was fine to them. Guess it is my eyes. Last time I had an eye check up the doc said it wasn’t worth fixing. Might be time to revisit that.

Ya, I'm pretty nearsighted myself though last time I went to the optometrist she also said I have a slight astigmatism that isn't really worth correcting. I've never noticed any issues with scopes or red dots because of it, though I do know especially with red dots it can cause issues.

I know nothing of FFP scopes so this is just an inclination, if it’s considered part of the reticle I would adjust the ocular

I followed the diopter instructions in the manual and a few other forums but still the same issue. I did notice when zoomed in all the way with illumination on there were a bunch of random red specs in the optic.

My second focal plain optic doesn’t give me any issues, so hopefully I can return it and either get a high quality sfp optic or something else.
