All,
Up until recently I've been a huge proponent of the AK rifle. Larger diameter projectile, great reliability, and (with the Yugo underfolder) ease of concealment if needed. But the problem I am coming into lately is mounting optics.
I've purchased a mount which replaces the rear sight leaf which works fine, but just barely. The red dot I have currently mounted just barely fits the mount, forget about adding anything else.
Are there any options for the AK series (especially the M70) that can allow a greater flexability in the mounting of optics? My preference is a mount closer to rear of the weapon so I don't have to really be concerned with long eye relief scopes.
What is the collective experience of the board? Do I need to ditch the AK and replace with a more optics friendly AR?
Thanks!
