EPS carry on my 365xl. Notch on the base allows pretty close co witness if sight goes south for some reason...

I found it worth the extra work it took to shoot reasonably accurately from 5 to 50 yards. Under 5, it's no hinderance, but not a huge advantage, either.
I have a red dot on my Gx4, and TX-22c. (Practice gun for the CCW) The others do not have red dots.

I value small compact easy to draw EDC's. Mounting accessories on an EDC ruins this for me.

I don't even really need iron sights at self defense distances (NAA Guardian, Original LCP, P32), but do appreciate them when I have them!

As much as battery life has never been an issue for me with my long guns, that have had their dots "on" 24/7/365 for the past 20 odd years or so now, and had a good bit of use on them over the years, I suppose its possible. Then again, I have BUIS on them, "just in case". Same goes for my handguns.

I would really miss the 24/7 "any light" dot on any of them if it were to go out for some reason, but I can still shoot without it.

If you're the least bit interested in getting one, the best thing you can do is to get one, figure them out, and see whats really what with them. Its the only way you're going to actually know. At least you're basing things on actual knowledge and experience, and not speculation, guessing, bad info, etc..

I don't have a whole lot of experience right now with the handgun dots battery life, or how well they hold up to use, but so far, with the one gun that I have on all day, every day, where the dot doesn't go to sleep, it lasted a full 6 months before it started to die. I switched it out and that gave me a benchmark for my battery changes going forward. Ill change that battery every 3 months.

As far as the gun I shoot a couple of times a week in practice and the sight (Holosun 407) holding up, its been fine, and I know at this point, Im somewhere over 7500 rounds on it at this point, and its been no trouble at all. Its dot and battery does get to go to sleep, as its not moving every second of the day, and its still on the battery that came with the dot going on 9 months ago or so now.

I have a Swampfox Sentinal green dot on my Shield Plus.
Its a very good optic in my opinion.
To be honest Ive been considering taking it off.
I really have a hard time trying to find it when I’m shooting from the draw, and I find myself lining up the iron sights to get to the dot on the optic.

A No vote or unelaborated reply (or irons are good enough, fixed sights for me) omits relevant details.
No - they only pocket carry
No - they do not have a handgun that is red dot compatible
No - to include either of the above and they have not even tried a dot or given it sufficient practice

I do have a dot on my Glock 22 but I've been carrying my 17 with fixed sights; so, I voted 3rd choice in the poll.

As I have personal experience in a close combat shooting incident (at that time I was armed with my service revolver, a Model 10 S&W .38)
most shooting incidents occur within 7-10 ft. and last 3-5 seconds.
Never found a reason to have an optic. I know have a Sig P365 as my EDC and the most important thing I do is practice with it regularly.

One personal anecdote does not a statistic make. If you are going to trot out generalizations, the 3-3-3 one will suffice.

In the one instance I drew a handgun on someone, I too was close, a little over 10 feet, though. He learned bringing a knife to a gunfight is not a good plan. Fortunately for both of us, he immediately dropped the knife, allowing me and the person he was threatening to withdraw from the situation. I did not have a red dot on my Trooper MkIII because it was 1982.
