If she is willing to risk getting fired for it, thats her choice, just like if she chose to quit whenever the mood struck her.
Um, sure.

Luckily for her though, there are a TON of openings for nurses in this state. There is a big shortage, as I see a LOT of openings for nursing jobs all over the state during my job hunting online.
I see. Hospitals and other health care facilities will be dying to get someone with her experience and risk portfolio, eh?

OK, makes sense to me.

Maybe she can get a raise outta the deal. Buy herself a better gun. Maybe a High Point or something.

It could have been me or one of my kids who got shot because some dumb sclub doesn't know what they are doing.

Stuff like this makes a strong case for some the laws they are trying to pass - "If it saves just one life..."

Sheesh. The good ole passive voice dodge...
I think the "passive voice dodge" refers to guns doing things by themselves.
Exactly. Guns don't go off....they don't operate by themselves.

The passive voice to describe the nurse's firing of the gun is just a dodge of her responsibility.
I disagree.

She did not "fire" the gun. The gun was in a holster, in her purse. The safety was engaged. The gun discharged when the purse fell and hit the floor.

How did the nurse "fire" the gun, and how is she responsible for the fact it discharged when it should not have?

Your reply is based on emotion and not logic.

Anything can happen to anyone at anytime. We do what we can to prevent stuff like this but it can happen.

I disagree.

I agree..if the events happened as discribed then it was a simple accident.

I have a .38 cal Cobra Derringer and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a cheaper built gun but not unsafe by any means. There are two safety features. Half cock and a safety button. The hammer must be half cocked to engage the safety. The half cock keeps the hammer from resting on the firing pin, in turn resting on the casing primer. The correct way to load is to set hammer at half cock and engage safety button. Then disengage the barrel lever, load and re-engage barrel. This will prevent the firing pin from hitting the primer when the barrel is closed thus firing the firearm in your hand.

Firing the Cobra is a challenge until you learn how!!!!! It has a stiff hammer pull and trigger pull. To fire you must squeeze in and down on the trigger. I cut two coils off the hammer spring and can cock it with one hand in defense mode. Next I will work on the trigger to ease it as well as maintaining a safe firearm.

Learn how to use the Cobra and it is as safe as any other firearm.

DO NOT LET YOUR EMOTIONS cause you to inadvertently removes one's "Right To Bare Arms".

Thus you are as guilty as any "Far Left Democrat".

Here are my daily defense firearms.
Uberti 1873 Colt chambered in 44-40 and a Cobra .38 cal Derringer...as well as my Uberti 1873 Winchester 73" also chambered in 44-40. I also use Black Powder in my defense loads. If all else fails, I can hide under a cloud of smoke!!!!!

In Oregon if on private property
and CCW is discovered....you can
be asked to leave. If you don't the
cops can nail you for trespassing...
with a firearm.

Cool stuff, SJ.

The American Derringer Co. in Waco TX makes some pretty skookum stainless derringers as well, but they're not cheap. I hear they make one in .45-70, or used to. Wow.

When I first got one, I loaded it with a couple empty primed cases and beat it around. Dropped it, smacked the hammer, smacked the trigger, tried to AD it. Nada. Pocket carry is the ticket for me.
