There was discussion on this board a couple of months ago. Someone said they went THROUGH Oregon and stopped at (??) Eugene?? , maybe Grants Pass?? I don't recall which town, but they had the paperwork ready, stopped at the sheriffs, got printed, submitted the app, then came back on their way back down, and got their permits. I'm speaking of an Oregon NON-RESIDENT CCW. Anyone have any info? I hear they are good in several (11-12) states. Sounds like a good idea for traveling.
TIA for any help

So basically the only way to get a Oregon Non-resident CHL is to prove a "business intrest" however. Family counts, but you need to apply in the county that you have your connection. Currently I am an Oregon resident with a an Oregon CHL however I plan to move to the Seattle area. I inquired with the county sheriff and got a really good email directing me on the process which I could PM you wish. But basically if your just visiting they are going to be hesitant but if you have family or something your ok.

Also, non-resident permits are only available to residents of contiguous states (CA, NV, ID, WA)

Have you checked Utah?

Can be done by mail.

Fly to Vegas, after setting up a class with Bargainpawn.com. 3 hours later your qualified to apply in Utah through the mail.

You could take the class and fly home that night.

kd7nqb and clevernickname are both right.

You need to be a resident of the adjoining state, have either a business or personal reason (visiting family counts) and apply in the county in which the business or family is located.

You have to mail in the application, then the sherriff will set appointment time for you to actually appear for photo, prints, and final papers.

It is real easy and painless, except for the travel for actual interview.

re non-res ccw.....OR or WA?

Actually, the relatives we will be seeing are in WA. Is it as east to get a non-res in WA as it is in OR? I thought that since we would have to go through OR to reach our destination, that OR might be easier, but I have not heard of the process in WA. ANYONE?

Here's a link to some good info on the Washington State Attorney General's website:

http://www.atg.wa.gov/page.aspx?ID=2334

We currently have reciprocity with:
Louisiana
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
Utah

So you can always get a non-resident Utah CCW permit. There seem to be Utah CCW classes held just about everywhere, I took mine in Bellevue, WA.
