Original Lee Turret Press

I have an original Lee Turret Press. It's over 30 years old. My kids broke the handle. I would like to purchase a new one but they are no longer available through Lee. Let me know if you have one for sale. I've reloaded a lot of bullets with this press and would like to continue using it.

Couldn't be that hard to fix the old handle, or make a new handle.

Check with a welding shop or machine shop.

The new one I just bought came with the roller style handle. Is there any reason you couldn't just buy the roller handle conversion kit? It should replace the linkage too because the old toothed linkage won't accept the insert for the new style.

Elkins, thanks for posting... I like that. I'm gonna have to get one, as the old wooden ball gets a bit hard on the palm after a while.

Are you talking about the old aluminum "I" beam handle? I snapped one of those in half many years ago. Sure made my ass red.

I "fixed" it by making two steel plates to fit in the handle on both sides, then drilled through them and bolted it together. Worked fine, but I eventually called Lee and got a new one.

My brother has that press, and I bet he's still using it, and still has that old "fixed" handle too. He never throws out anything.

Here are some thoughts:

I understand Lee will refurbish a press for half the price of a new one.

If they don't have the parts for your old one, you might just wind up with a new one.

If it were my choice, I would ask about trading in the old one for a Classic Turret, which is far superior. This would be a good deal under any circumstance as long as you don't have a lot invested in spare 3-hole turrets (unless you could trade those in).

I would ask.

I have an old 1982 3 hole turret press and it cracked in the base a while back. I called Lee and they said to send it in for evaluation. I sent it in on my dime and they rebuilt it completely. They sent it back to me without any charges at all. Call them and ask what they can do for you. Lee is a good company.
