Was poking around www.awbansunset.com and, while looking at the word-for-word law that is(was) the AW Ban, there was also a list I had forgotten...

A) any of the firearms, or copies or duplicates of the firearms in any caliber, known as -
(i) Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (all models);
(ii) Action Arms Israeli Military Industries UZI and Galil;
(iii) Beretta Ar70 (SC-70);
(iv) Colt AR-15;
(v) Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, and FNC;
(vi) SWD M-10, M-11, M-11/9, and M-12;
(vii) Steyr AUG;
(viii)INTRATEC TEC-9, TEC-DC9 and TEC-22; and
(ix) revolving cylinder shotguns, such as (or similar to) the Street Sweeper and Striker 12;

and also

(D) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of -
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(iii)a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds; and
(iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine.

I don't readily recall either of the two lists being discussed much here on THR... just the "Rifle Features" section. Does this mean we'll be able to get $400 Norinco M14s, Steyr Augs, and AR-15s that can be officially labeled as AR-15s? Or are these banned under a different, redundant law?

I must confess that the TEC-9 has always interested me a bit, if only they'd make a reliable one... :uhoh:

Colt and whoever else can restamp their guns AR-15 if they want.

Norincos, Steyrs, IMI Galils/Uzis, FNCs, all foreign 'unsporting guns' are still banned from importation. They'll have to tool up their plants here in the states and produce them domestically.

If someone starts making FNCs, I will kick myself for buying a Sten instead of an FNC sear.

No on the Norincos. They're still under a different import ban due to PRC violating the embargo to Iraq. Seems like they built a splendid little fiber-optic CNC network for Iraq's AA batteries during the '90's, which resulted in (I think) all the cool Norinco products blocked from importation. I don't know about the replica M97 shotgun, though. Maybe it only applied to 'military type' ar,s.

Not that I'm a big supporter of PRC/Norinco firearms anyway. I was raised during the Cold War.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I don't know about the replica M97 shotgun

all three gunshops i frequent that carry those have stated that, there is a loophole in that "executive order" ban that resulted the PRC being able to continue to ship them to the US with a simple short hiatus on production while the tooling was reinstalled at another plant (there's more to it than that but the result is the same) so we're still getting the M97 coach and trench gun models
