Owning two of the same gun

I would have to sell a bunch of guns to get down to two of the same guns for those guns I really like ..

index.php

I don't have two of the exact same gun model, but I do have multiple Glocks of the same caliber and several 44 Mag Blackhawks that are essentially the same thing with different barrel lengths.

not two of the same, but I do repeat buy gun platforms I really like, 1911, CZ 75, Mauser type rifle, double action revolver

I generally double or even triple up on guns I really like----probably not happening with a $2000 O/U shotgun even though I have several O/U shotguns------but easily done with a $500 pistol, rifle, pump shotgun or even a .22.

They handle and work the same---you never know when something will be changed or discontinued(just because you like it doesn't mean everybody else does)--you might need a parts donor to keep the other running.

I have a lot of duplicates. There might be some variation as to finish, color, barrel length or caliber---some are identical.

It also might be better to stick with stuff that is so common that they go unnoticed ---think Glocks,1911s, 870's, 10/22s etc........

This was a great thread. I know competition shooters will have an exact duplicate set up for matches. I never thought of it for carry. Maybe because I only ever really carry a 1911 as my go to and had several of them. Happy accident.

I like the idea--one may be in the shop.

I have a friend who has one S&W Model 60. It jammed up tighter than a drum and required gunsmithing.

He wished he had a second one.

If you're in a gunfight, is it possible to have too many friends?

Spats,

Fortunately, those days are behind me. But, I would much rather have one or two with me rather than a whole bunch. I can keep track of a couple but not many more.

By the way, not evident in the photo but all the revolvers in the photo are chambered for the 45 ACP.

OK, I've had a CZ P09 for years which has been great. I carry it, I train with it, its what I'm the most used to. I'm buying a second one for primary carry, and retiring the old one for training only. Going to equip and update the new one exactly as the first with a stainless guide rod and 18# spring, and upgraded trigger return spring, and night fision sights. Am I nuts, or should I have just bought a new P10F?
You're not nuts, IMO. Have you considered the P-07 since it's for carry? But, since you've been carrying the P-09 you are obviously okay with the larger gun...

I'm a fan of CZ pistols and rifles. I have several that are similar but none that are exactly alike. Whenever I buy another gun I get what I want the most among every candidate that is out there. If it happens to be something similar to what I already have, so be it.

I did consider the P07, but have had no problems carrying the P09. Here in KY you see enough people open carrying with little concern from the public, a little extra print concealed doesn't really matter. Also a big fan of the CZ platform
