Well I decided on the sig P229, and have a choice to make.

(1) A standard nitron finished P229 which includes a one year membership
to the range (worth $300) for $800.

(2) Or the June 2004 Limited Edition P229 in satin nickel finish (according
sigarms 300-400 will be made, slide is similar to two tone but frame will
also be finshed in nickel) for $840 along with a $100 credit towards a
range membership.

This will be my primary concealed carry pistol.

Which off the two finishes would be more durable against holster wear
and humidity?

And would the satin nickel finish really be a problem (shine, reflection,
etc.) for concealed carry?

As of now I'm leaning towards the nickel finish!

I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks, to all in advance!!!!

If it were MY decision (which it isn't :( ), I would opt for
option #1; the standard nitron finish with a one year
subscription to Playboy, NO I mean the range member
ship! :uhoh:  No need to have a "nickel plated sissy
pistol"! :D

SIG produced a run of P229SN's in .40 with night sights awhile back.
Here's mine-

Shoots great but I've never carried mine as I prefer a .45ACP P2220 for that, so I can't tell you how it would stand up to extended holster carry.

Nitron is fairly durable. I'm not sure how Sigarms does the nickel finish but ammonia-based copper solvents can eat away at it if the finish is done by electroplating, so be careful when cleaning.

I'd go for the deal with the range membership. If it's going to be your carry piece you'll want as much practice time as you can get. But if nickel is really what you want, get it or you'll never be satisfied.

Thanks for all the input.
B27 that's a beautiful piece of equipment. How old is it and ever use it for concealed carry?

Thanks manapat!:)
I think i've had it about 2 1/2 years now.
They just showed up on dealers shelves with no announcement from SIG and the general belief was that they were overrun from a law enforcement order.
I put Hogue tulipwood grips on mine and bought some P229 Sport mags with the finger rest on the bottom for it from CDNN.
I've never carried it concealed a single day.
For that I prefer a P220.

Perhaps a slight edge to the nickel. However, even if you wear the coating off the slide, it is still stainless steel underneath.

It is a satin finish, not highly polished or shiny. If it is concealed, no one is going to see it anyway. ;) And if you do draw your gun in defense of your life, you want your assailant(s) to see it.
