Would like some considered opinions guys.
My 2 P3ATs choked on 90 grain Independence FMJ round nosed ammo with Failures to extract. I had no other FTE with this ammo in a NAA 380.
I switched to 95grain FMJ Magtech and had 0 problems with extraction.
The P3ATs are first gen with the non "Frankenstein" extractors. The Independence ammo did not feel under powered.
Any opinions on the FTE cause ???

I get that Dano; I'm trying to get some thought on the mechanics of the fail.

when was the last time you cleaned the barrel?

when my p3at was new, it had to be clean and have a little "sheen" in the chamber with some loads, took about 200 to make it run "dry"

magtech brass is very shiny (slick) so may be why it cycles

I am pretty sure I have used Independence at some point but it may have been 9mm rather than .380. My P3at has eaten everything I have ever fed it which is basically what I have found on sale at WM or Academy or my local LGS. I found 3 boxes of Tula 95FMJ at Wally World last week and ran a box through the gun this weekend with no issues at all.

I kind of doubt that you limp wristed with one ammo and not the other. I guess anything can happen.

I had a Kel-tec .380 Gen II , If I recall correctly.
I called Kel-tec they asked me the seriall number and they send me the Next generation extractor ( free) and my extraction problems got fixed.

My P3AT shoots most reliably with CCI Blazer 95gr. in the non-reloadable aluminum cases. After several hundred rounds, it seems to be reliable with most everything, including lead bullet handloads, but for actual carry for defensive use, I keep it stoked with the CCI stuff it likes best.
