Well, it seems, like a lot things, ruger semi-autos, you either love em or hate em. I shot a ruger p95 yesterday and I was very impressed. Reliability was perfect, althought I only shot 100 rounds. Accuracy I actually put a couple shots in same hole, very tight grouping all around. I'll have to admit this was only at 7 yards, but well within most any defensive situations.

I used to shoot a P95 and P94 in 9mm and loved them. Never had a reliability issue with either. My only issue was when drawing the P95 is a match, on 2 different stages, the inside of my 3rd finger hit the right ambi mag release. Both times, while drawing the pistol, I ended up with a single shot, and 1/3 of my ammo on the ground in front of me. I picked up the mag and reinserted, and continued both stages. I had a real sick feeling for the moment. I descided that I had to change.

I switched to Glocks, but I will always ahve a soft spot for the Ruger in my heart.

p95 is chunky looking....but probably the best value in 9mm. built like a tank and will feed anything you can stuff in it.

the first gen ones probably need a hogue handall for better grip.

Ruger semi autos are not guns that I would carry. But I sure as hell would put one in a SHTF kit, or in a lockbox in a bathroom or garage. Just a basic handgun that isn't much to look at or talk about but I know it's there and I know it will work when I need it to.

Same here. Always look at them when I'm in the shop, and they always find their way back into the case.

Reliably and solid, but their grips suck (to me) and ye gods they're hideous.

That said, i am on the waiting list for an LCP.

My first pistol was a Ruger P series in .40 S&W. Was fairly inexpensive and 100% reliable. I traded up to something else fairly quickly. It felt huge and heavy making carry difficult, the trigger wasn't great, never liked the looks of it compared to other pistols, and I was less accurate with it than other pistols I tried.

I'd characterize them as reliable and overbuilt but not competative with the standard Glocks, M&P's, or XD's wich offer better ergonomics, lighter weight, and more aftermarket options to tailor to individual tastes.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've owned a couple of the P series and I like the way they look. I think they actually look better than the Glocks and most of the other pistols out there.

That being said, I currently have a P-95 and it is very accurate and dependable. The older P series were all metal and quite a bit heavier but the P-95 with it's polymer frame is actually 1 oz. lighter (unloaded) than the Ruger SP-101 revolver.

If you want an inexpensive pistol that you can practice with and use the cheapest ammo you can find then you can't go wrong with a P-95.

I have a P345.. most comfortable to carry, hold and fire of all my guns. Feeds anything and accurate as a laser gun. I am comparing it to a Glock and an XD.
It's the one that lives on the nightstand....

Well Rugers being better looking than Glock goes without saying. Anything looks better than the Glock.

I love mine as well. It seems many aren't as fond of Ruger's pistols as they are of their revolvers but I don't have a problem with either. The P95 is a fantastic pistol and on average much lower price wise than some other 9mms out there.

Ruger P95, old model was my first automatic pisol beyond a 22. I have shot about 1500 through it without a problem. I can head down to the range with 200 rounds of Wolf and not have a problem. Mine shoots much better than I do.

Don't know about ugly, but I like what shoots.

Back when the P94 came out I thought it was the coolest looking handgun on the market. I bought a P95 which has had too many problems for me to have absolute faith in it. Three-point failures to feed with the usual FMJ, but seems to be working better now for some reason. I called ruger's CS about it, but the gunsmith never contacted me and I shouldn't have to call twice I still can't bear to sell it and it's my 9mm that I shoot the most...because it's a challenge to hit my target with the creepy trigger. I have mixed feeling for it.

I had a P95 and it's an accurate, reliable handgun. As someone else mentioned, it is not at all fussy about ammo. Cycles everything w/o protest. Big, clunky, and very tool-like. Not something to get attached to, but a very useful pistol. It now resides with my nephew, serving as the HD gun for his family. He's very pleased with it.
