just back from the range with this new grip I really liked it but it did tend to slide up a littlewhich could become a problem
I may need to trim a bit more from away from the grip safety
I own an XD-40 and love it. Utterly reliable and accurate right out of the box. I thought to myself...hey...this is like my 220 Sig! I have about 2000 rounds through it and no troubles at all. Carryi in all sorts of nasty conditions and I doubt it will ever let me down.
Have not expereinced the finish issues and I live in a very hot and humid climate...if its going to rust, its going to rust here and I have not seen it.
Have you seen the torture test done on a bone stock XD in the latest Handguns Magazine? That test ought ot quiet the skeptics on whether or not the XD is as tough as a Glock. I know I would not put a few of my guns through that test!
I have a P99QA and its been a good gun so far, but if I had known better I would have gotten the regular DA/SA version instead. No experience with the XD though.
I am also deciding between the P-99 and the XD. I am leaning towards that Xd after recently ruling out the Glock 19 which was what I had intended to buy until I picked up a XD and then later a P-99. Both feel better in my hand that the Glock. The hi-cap mag issue with the P-99 and the rust on carbon XD are good info that I just learned. Keep the pros and cons comming for those of us still deciding.
The XD is the first new gun I have wanted in a while with the exception of every Kahr that they can make.
If I needed another full-sized autoloader, the XD would be at the top of my list--I'd probably pick it over a Glock just because I can pick one up for about $100 less than a similar Glock. But my next purchase will be a Glock 26. The only reason I'm going with that over the subcompact XD-9 is because the Glock is quite a bit smaller than the smallest Springfield, and I'll be using it for CCW.
