Packing the Range Bag..

range bag is the take always bag. specific use are the crony/timer/sand-bags, bench rest bag. or the black powder bag ( that gets heavy fast). 20x60x50 spotting scopes generally have a their own shoulder sling. hard sided bullseye boxes mount the 15x45 scope and their own specialty items also. reactive targets and shooting tree has its own bag for the paddles (22lr set and larger to rifle set and 2 cans of spray paint). grab and go as you plan your range day. thats what craftsman tool bags do best.

How about hand sanitizer?

Anyway, is it proper to clean guns at the range or should I wait until get home? I hope it isn't bad manners to clean guns in public because I figured it would be better to clean guns when they are a little warm so all the gunk comes off faster.

Lube/Grease and some 12 ga bore patches. Hex wrenches.

Clean the guns at home, but you may need the patches for some build up of powder or just neatening up the exterior. The multi-tool is a very good idea.

The range I go to I wouldn't. Giving the bore a quick swab is one thing, but not out and out cleaning. There just isn't a dedicated place, and if they got a waiting list you need to just move on if you're done.

I've never had any issues cleaning at home right after, or even the next day. YMMV

Always carry a small bottle with me. :)

In general, I'd say wait until you get home. Most indoor ranges don't really have room for you to break down your stuff and start scrubbing away anyhow. Plus, if you lose a screw or a spring in the process, it's much better to have to crawl around on your own floor, than trying to do so at the range. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't clean guns at the range - just that in general, any cleaning that's not a quick field strip and wipe-down to keep the gun functioning while you're there, should wait until you're home.

Never been hunting, at least not yet. I dunno how many poisonous snakes live in my area, but when/if I ever get to go, I'll consider taking one along. :)

Breath mints. Never know when you might meet Ms. Right at the range...

Already done snagged myself a woman, so she might object just a 'lil bit to my trying to find another, lol. :D

You got a lot more room? Consider a smaller bag:D

But I just got this one!:neener:

I have:

Stapler
Staples
Tent spikes (for shooting mat)
Pen/Sharpie
2x3 notepad
Can CLP
Can GunScrubber
Otis kit
patches
Bore snakes
AR/AK sight tools
1911 multitool
swiss army knife
Orange dot stickers
Magazines
Pistols
Ammo
Eye protection
Ear muffs and plugs

Still need:
2 cheap rain ponchos
Bug Spray
Sun Screen
Chap Stick

I just add to the bag as I think of something; every couple trips I find something else I need.

Sounds like you might need a roll behind bag! The day I see one at the range, I'm packing it in.

Acutallly, that is exactly what I use and I know many others that do so. It's not really a bag, it's a portable roll-around tool carrier available in Home Depot, Wallyworld, etc in the tool dept for about $28.00 or so. Got two good sized stacked boxes for all your gear. Extendable handle for pulling it around. It's plastic but pretty high strength, been using it for about 5 years and hasnt broken yet. I can lay it on its back in the trunk of the car and the equipment inside stays where it is supposed to be. Rolling one cart up to the range sure beats making 2 or 3 trips by hand. Plus, I leave everything in there so next time I go to the range it's all there, I dont have to worry about forgetting something.

Since we shoot way out in the sticks, a small roll of TP can be very welcome. Watch out for the poison ivy.
