Yeh, this is a trivial thread. I got some "Grade B" ammo cans from the U.S. Army, and they've got some rusty edges and somebody's spray-painted over the label/markings on the can -with WHITE paint :cuss:. They look like cr@p, but the gaskets are good and they are very air-tight. [I did some research: see this THR thread for some ammo can info, but no help on refurbishing....]

I just need to paint them, before I can resepctably use them. I've done one of them and it turned out great, BUT....

I don't like the color!

It looks like German Army "Panzer Green" from World War II. It has more blue tint than the yellow tint (olive) that U.S. Army green has. At my local K-Mart I couldn't find "Army Green" in the spray paint aisle, so I bought something very close: Rust-Oleum "Hunt Club Green" (satin finish, which BTW perfectly matches the sheen of U.S. Army ammo cans), Part Number: 249164, SKU: 0-20066-18810-8.

Anybody know where I can buy canned spray paint that is in actual U.S. Army spec colors? Or is it illegal for civilian stores to sell this? (I can't imagine why...well, knowing gov't, I might be able to imagine a few "reasons")

RC,

Thanks! I see that all three sources will sell me spray cans of the OD color I want. That's great! :) It looks like ArmyJeepParts does not accept orders over the internet? (Never mind; not your prob.)

I also see that the Army did have old and new green colors with a little more bluish-ness, like the Rust-Oleum color I found. So now I am not so unhappy with that color. But I want to order the true OD green color anyway.
