Question: I have an Ithaca .22 lever single shot. As you may know the frame is anodized aluminum or aluminum alloy so it is not blued. I know that Birchwood Casey makes a touch up for the black anodizing. However, I have also seen advertised, somewhere, perhaps by Birchwood Casey, a black paint made for aluminum gun frames. The ad claims that, although it is paint, it is a very good paint and wears well. So, has anyone used paint on these Ithaca frames(or the Savage-Stevens 89 which is clone of the 49?) and what has been your experience with this? Mostly with me and this gun it is a matter of looks. Presently the frame looks pretty okay already but I just refinished the stock and forearm so am doing whatever else I can to refurbish the gun lookswise.?????
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!

Moe: Just read your post and just wanted to let you know that Brownell's has a bake on spray for aluminum which is exactly what you are looking for; the paint comes in flat or gloss black and about 10 other colors. I have used this paint for several years and it is excellent. You just spray it on, let it dry, and cure it it the oven for about 30 minutes. Oven temperature is very low and will not hurt the aluminum part. Also great for touching up holster wear on aluminum framed hanguns.
