Ok, just watched a couple videos on youtube about making the paper cartridges. I noticed they were not using any type of wad between the bullet and powder nor were they putting any type of sealent above the bullet when loaded in the chamber. Now to me, especially with using a rolling paper that burn readily and having the paper above the ball would increase the potential for ignition from the previous fired round. Am I off base with this assumption? I really like how the paper cartridge increases the speediness of reloading!!

I was worried about chain fires and stuff at first but you start to loosen up after you shoot them a few times and you arnt so worried about things.

If your careful and pay attention to what your doing you will be fine.

When you start to load the balls in you will notice that as you ram the ball into the cylinder the ball is slightly larger then the chamber. The chamber actually shaves a small ring of lead off the ball. How can the powder get in around that seal?

That shaved lead more or less makes a water tight seal. If water cant get in how will the fire?

Try it each way and then pick the way you like to load best.

The paper just helps keep the measuring at home where you can take your time and watch football. At my range its dark in the booth and there are other distractions so the paper worked well for me.

I use wads because it helps keep me organized. The white wads i can see better then the black powder and i know that chamber is charged and done. You could use the grease the same way.

Ive even loaded powder then ball and i didnt notice much difference in accuracy or anything.

First, I assume you are talking about revolver cartridges, using combustible paper. If so, you shouldn't need any seal. You just drop the cartridge in and ram it; if the ball/bullet is the right diameter, the paper acts as the seal. If you want to use a grease wad, it goes in the cartridge behind the projectile.

Hmmm... Wouldn't allow you to view it?

It is an excellent forum! Only traditional arms are mentioned there.

Maybe I can find my original video I sent to my email and get it to you...

Just went to the local tobacco shop to get some papers. Of course they don't carry American Spirits but I bought a pack of JOB 1.5's and a pack of Elements ultra thin rice papers for king size cigarettes. Not sure if either will work but gonna give them a try.

They ought to work fine.

They'll burn completely if you nitrate them first.

I recently bought Spectracide stump killer, which is 100% potassium nitrate (salt peter). The other brands don't specify. I put it into hot water and stirred adding more until it wouldn't dissolve any more. Then I brushed that on ready made cartridges I had. It worked well on about 90% of them burning all of the paper. The paper that was left behind was smaller than the ones without nitrating.
