Hello everyone,

I have a brand new M4 barrel which lost its parkerized finish when I cleaned it after the first fire test.
In some places the metal is silver which makes me feel that all the protection is gone.
Now, I dont wanna go thru the process of removing the bll to teflon bake it. I need to know if there's an easier way to protect the bll from rust or corrosion. I hope some kind of pray is available which can do the job.

Any recommendation is welcomed.

Thanks in advance,
LPPRS.

Jack19,

The barrel is from Oly and I didn't use any product to clean it, just rubbed it with a rag. I first found that a kind of black dust was left on my hands when I caress the barrel.

LRRPS,

That stinks.

I wouldn't recommend a bake-on finish due to the parkerized finish. Unless you remove the park'd finish and apply a baked-on finish, the bake-on would probably be hard pressed to adhere. Reason I say this is that if the base finish is already falling off, the new finish will have a slim chance of adhering. Even so, I would suggest barrel removal. Actually, I suggest you send it back to Olympic Arms for rework.

The above would be the route I'd take.

You could always try Birchwood Casey's "cold blue".
