This just breaks my heart. This could be any of us who attend church. It must be remembered that accidents happen with cars, electrical devices, etc. But we MUST be constantly vigilant in our handling of guns and be triple redundant on gun safety.

I post this because learning from the mistakes of others helps us avoid making those same mistakes ourselves.

Yep idiot. I also don't like that the article states that he didn't know the round was in the chamber and the the gun "went off".

Not only does it remove blame from the idiot, but it also reinforces the perception of the uneducated masses that a loaded gun is like a ticking time bomb that might just "go off" at any second.

Its the same crap that annoyed me on a trailer recently for a move "30 Minutes or Less" (haven't seen the movie - just the trailer). There is a woman in the trailer that slides a DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER across the room and it hits a wall and "goes off". Normally firearms mistakes in movies don't bug me, but that type of stuff does great harm to the public perception of firearms.

Yep. It's common when talking to non-shooters for them to look very skeptical when I tell them that modern firearms in good working condition don't just "go off."

The shooter should face charges of criminal negligence in my opinion.

At the very least, he should have permit permanently revoked!!!!! It's because of idiots like this, that there is so much red tape to get through in some states!
