It was a real challenge, lots of goofiness in the design, overall it turned out good considering one could not respring it. Also had to build up a small pad on the hand to keep it centered in its slot.

Want to work on another one? I have Pietta Paterson that needs a little help with chambers lining up to the bore. I too would like it kept "historically accurate."

My other complaint on the Paterson is the sights are really really tiny. The rear sight notch on my Pietta's hammer is way smaller than my 1851 & 1860 hammer sight notches.

I could cut it larger but don't want to.

@Jackrabbit1957 offered to take a look at my old out-of-time Palmetto Walker replica and he did such a good job fixing it I sent him my replica Paterson and 3rd Model Dragoon as well, both of which were badly out of time and had multiple other problems.

On the Walker and the Dragoon he did his upgrades as well as fixing the arbors and timing. He installs a custom made action shield on the hammer that prevents fragments from falling into the guts, converts the hand spring to a Ruger type spring and plunger, fixes the cylinder gap and trues the cylinder face, and installs a bolt guide and action stop, among other tuning fixes and upgrades.

I asked him to just repair the Paterson and leave it “historically accurate,” which he did.

Once I find some caps and some time I’ll shoot them and film the results, but they sure feel good. Here are some pics of the latest guns for those interested. The man is a true “artiste” and is highly recommended for getting the best out of cap and ball replicas. Heck of a nice guy, too.
WOW! they all look to be original! any of them a CIMERON RE WORK?

Hey Drobs, I gotta think on that one a bit, paterson's are so darned different. Keep in mind that about all I can do is correct the timing and arbor. Let me get back to you after the weekend.
Thanks.

Sure.
I'm pretty sure it's just the timing that is off. Cylinder over rotates a bit or needs a little help rotating.
