So whats up guys, I posted a thread the other day talking about that I was waiting for the results of my NYC Handgun License application...and guess what...I was looking through my mail and got a letter....I WAS APPROVED for the license, gonna go pick it up tomorrow!! I am very very very excited!!!!

Heyyy thanks TexasRifleman, NYC makes it difficult but if you stick with it, it can be done, Im the proof lol...Thanks again buddy, Ill keep you informed of whats up next

That's great! I remember that it took months for me to get my NY permit, and that was in Onondaga County. Took me a couple of years after that to get the restrictions lifted, but I was eventually successful. Well done.

Thanks alot Legionnaire, quite surprisingly it only took me about 3 months in NYC!! must be a record lol... as for the restriction...I doubt that I can do that not here in the city at least

It was probably a "target" permit, which requires membership in a shooting club or range. NYC also has "premises" permits, which allow you to keep handguns in your home or business, and take it to the range twice a year (!) with prior notice to NYPD. "Carry" permits are extremely difficult to obtain; you have to be rich/famous/notorious/politically connected, or carry large amounts of cash regularly (they require six months' bank records, an affidavit from your bank, and THEN they forward the banking info to the IRS).

Congratulations on getting your concealed carry license. You had quite a
few obstacles to overcome in New York and it is comforting knowing that
another responsible gun owner is allowed to carry a handgun in public
(at least outside of the NYC area).

Ulghh I think I misinformed some of you guys I was only approved for the residence/target permit its RESTRICTED, but even that is difficult here in NYC as many can confirm,, sorry guys if I didn't make it clear, but thanks for the congradulations!! and I'm going to work on removing restrictions as time passes.

That's great. Every time I even hear the subject brought up, people are generally advised NOT to apply...because once you are turned down, you have to put on every application for the rest of your life that, yes, you were once turned down for a permit.
Good job............

glad you got 'er done before the new revisions took place
Doc, what are the revisions of which you speak? Is there a website you can point me to? Not of direct relevance to me, but as a prior NY permit holder, still interested.

I think he's talking about the increase of fees that pertain to applying for a new NY permit..I think its gonna go up to about $500.00 just for the application ULGH!!
