Paul Harrell on the Colt Walker (for beginners)

He was an accomplished competition shooter in his military days. Mr. Harrell is also one of the very few people who has taken a life in a self-defense shooting. He has a video about the incident.
I always thought war was more of a self defense scenario…

I was always under the impression that the best offense won... ;)

But back to my post, I think Mr. Harrell shot someone in a self-defense situation and was charged with murder. Scary. Some maniac had gone ballistic at a camp ground and was about to run over Mr. Harrel (and/or his wife/girlfriend?). I can't remember the details but you can find his video on the incident.

Did he do a video on that incident? I can't find it. ? I did find, and have seen, the one where someone was shooting towards him from long distance. ?

It might be in one of the FAQ videos, or maybe he took it down... not sure. No, it's not the one where someone is shooting at him and his buddy from a long distance. He shot a crazed/angry guy in a vehicle on a rampage in a campground. I think he shot the guy with a carbine but I'm not sure. I watched that episode a year or more ago.

I just looked through his list of videos and didn't see a specific episode about it listed so I'm guessing it's in the one of the FAQ episodes or it has been taken down (which is pretty likely, considering how YouTube has been tightening down on the gun stuff).

I think he took it down. I remember him telling the story. I’ll keep looking for it

I watched the oldest FAQ and it wasn't in that. It's probably gone. If it was me, I wouldn't keep it up. I read some of the short news blips. I also read a news story about what a great guy the guy was who got shot was, a pure angel he was, which does not make sense. I mean it was a long tirade about how kind and loving and perfect the guy was. Sometimes campers have "words", but no one just drives through another's camp fire for nothing. !! And no sane person does that. Or without something leading up to it. Every news story I read pretty much said that Mills (dead guy) asked the Harrels to go to a bar with him, Harrel said no, and next thing he's driving through their camp-fire. That does not make sense. Oh well, just curious.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no… sure feels like self defense no matter the tactical situation.

My son in law retired from a large city PD in the wake of the Ferguson, MO shooting. Said he couldn’t count on the department having his back let alone the city government. Self defense for a civilian is quite a bit more costly, in every respect.

That sure is mysterious, why would Dude, with no prior argument, just get in his truck and drive through someone's camp fire, and then come back for another run at it? That makes no sense at all, other than Mills being totally bull-goose looney-off his rocker. ? I don't get it.

Shroons, bad moonshine, but probably just booze

Or a combination of all of the above. !!!! :what:

Right, they never mentioned anything like that, never said he was intoxicated, but I don't remember them saying he wasn't. The local press seemed to be intent on making him out to be an angel. (Mills) And maybe they dropped the charges because they didn't want that to come out in the trial. But I think you may have nailed it Mark Squared. !!! Dude was stoned...and picks Paul Harrel to pick on. Do'H!

also, Paul don’t come off as a tough guy or a drinker, he’s not the type to like losing control that alcohol will do. and I been in the woods camping and fights break out fast! We use to camp out during race week in Rockingham NC (home town) and it was a fight EVERY NIGHT. Out of towner who we didn’t want to talk to would drive by and sling dirt at us. Bottles would be thrown then the fist. but not me, I was protecting the ladies, definitely a lover over fighter!

Anyways! I bet the angels got boozed up and wanted to show Paul his toughness. And Paul is always on code Red looking for danger and threats.

here him shooting a 4 bore

here him on a 2 bore, rifle & pistol set

I'm pretty sure that fellow is called "Gun Jesus" by the rest of the internet gun community.

Re British Firearms, I just think the Brits have poor taste in just about everything to include food, guns, and cars. The Reliant Robin comes to mind:

When you're confined to an island with a 49% tax rate, taxed on having a tv, can' t own a gun without 50 lbs of paperwork, ones taste is gonna be off...a lot. I saw that episode of Top Gear with the Robin getting rolled, had to watch it several times on account of how silly it is!.

They made some cool motorcycles for a while. The Brough, AJS, Norton, BSA, Matchless and Triumph. I do like British guns, up to the FAL. Food, cars, taxes and laws, I'm with you all there.

It is impressive what a BP pistol will do, FPS-wise, with enough powder and a long barrel.

I had a Triumph Bonneville and a couple of Norton Commandos back in the 70's, 80's but they were hard to find parts for. They make some fine shotguns and sporting rifles. I'm not fond of most of their military rifles. I would like to have a Martini Henry.

my 1st bike was a Triumph! 2001 Speed Triple! the road trips I took with that bike!

Ever just ride and sleep right next to your bike??? oooh yeah

The first bike I ever rode on was a BSA. I had a Bonneville T120 in the 70s and still have a '69 Daytona chopper basket case in the basement. I love my SMLE, too!

Sorry Mark_Mark, but the "real" Triumphs were l-o-n-g gone by 2001! You had a very nice motorcycle bearing the same name (with about three times the horsepower!).
