Pawn Shop Special!! ** Added Pics**

I just picked up a Mossberg 500A in a gun sock at a pawn shop this weekend for $80. It's not beautiful, but certainly not in bad shape at all. Action is smooth cycles rounds good, and just needs a bit of clean up. I haven't had a chance to fire it yet so maybe I am in for a surprise yet. :D

I am not a Mossberg officianato or necessarily a fan, but any working pump gun for $80 can't be bad. Let us know how it turns out!

Yeah it's not in too bad of shape. What's even better is I am supposed to be picking up a Remington 1100 with a 30" Trap Barrel, in really nice shape for $225-$250!

Hate to be the one to burst your bubble but the mdl. 500 is a pretty generic gun and as such, resale value is pretty low. I mean, you can get one brand new for $209. However, if this gun was, in fact, new, congrats, but it doesn't sound like it was.

You'd be the only one, at that price. $80 is a steal. Well done.

but a reliable well functioning 3" 12ga for $80 still a great deal

Well, if you can find me a good condition, functioning 500A for 80 bucks...I'll take two please
Seriously, why pay 209 when you don't have to?

Congrats on the new baby!

Great deal! Even if it doesn't shoot worth a darn, you could probably part it out and get your investment back.

Well I already bought a 28" ported, vented rib accu-choke barrel with mid bead and hi viz bead, with 4 chokes for the 500 for $60. Might sell the 28" that came with it, I'm not sure yet. The original barrel was in just fine shape, I just prefer vented rib barrels.

Ok by popular demand

Here are some requested pics. Sitting next to it is the 28" bbl that came on it. On it is the 28" vented rib barrel I picked up for it that I mentioned earlier.

Dang nice find, good looking gun for $80, id say a good buy at $150 because I have never seen a NIB 500 anywhere near $200, heck id pay $200 for a decent used one.

It has a few scratches on the other side of the reciever, and some scratches in the wood, and a very light patch of surface rust on the bolt, that can be polished right up in minutes. But other than that it is good to go!

DUDE!! What's to clean up!!??? Eighty bucks for that sweet hunk of steel is awful good. The 500a is to Mossberg as the 870 is to Remington . It is agood shotgun that can be accessorized and can be employed for use to defend your home and give a good account of itself afield. NIce Find.
